Steve is retired and works as a substitute art teacher in the area you live.

You sat with your best friend Steve as he worked on his college assignment. He decided he wanted to get his art degree like he would have if he didn't go off to war.

You noticed he looked a little distant as he put away his computer. Then he looked up to you.

"What's wrong Stevie?"

"Do you think I'm ever going to get married?"

You were perplexed that he would even ask that question. "What... What do you mean?"

"I just... I always dreamed of getting married and having kids and grandkids. I know I'm not the best with women, but... I dunno. Do you think I'll ever get that?"

It hurt you that he would think he would never get that. He was such a gentlemen, and he deserved only the best.

"Steven Grant Rogers you have to stop doubting yourself. You're a really great guy, and I know that one day you'll get exactly that. You'll get all that you dreamed of. I know it." You smiled grabbing his hand.

"I dunno y/n. I just feel like there's no gal that will like me for me. Steve Rogers not Captain America." Steve frowned.

This was it. This was the time you decided you should tell him how you really felt about him. You told him to stop doubting himself, and you figured that you should listen to your own advice. You needed to quit doubting that he wouldn't like you any less if you told him how you felt, and he didn't feel the same way.

"Steve... Can I... Can I tell you something?" You bit your lip nervous to see how things would unfold after you told him.

"Sure you can." He weakly smiled at you.

"Well... I um... I happen to know someone who likes you a lot. In fact they might even love you, but they're scared to mess things up."

"Who.. who is it?" He looked up to you with hopeful eyes.

Now or never. You squeezed his hand softly smiling, "Steve... It's... It's me."

"What?"

"I'm the one I know that likes you, and I might even love you." You felt your cheeks heat up.

"You like me?" Steve's cheeks also got red.

"Yeah... I do... I have for the longest time. I knew the day we met. " You fully smiled at him.

"I... I honestly like you too. I just never thought you'd like me in that way. " Steve admitted slightly laughing.

"I thought the same thing too Stevie. See this is why we have to stop doubting ourselves. If we didn't say anything we'd still be in the dark about how we feel for each other." You took his other hand and sat on the couch he was sitting on that way you'd be eye level with him.

"I love you Steve Rogers."

"I love you too." He smiled, and you pecked his lips.

He smiled happy that he might truly get what he always dreamed of. He then kissed your forehead. "Do you want to watch a movie?"

"I'd like that and cuddles." You smiled. He got up and picked a movie. When he came back you cuddled into his chest and enjoyed your time with him.
