Zanders POV
I walk into work and Megan starts talking about a case. Kidnapping. I sit listening when the radio goes off.
Truck 51 requesting assistance at house fire 674 Koulau Road
I get up and grab my stuff before running to the location. I look to see the whole place burning. I look around and I can't see Kayla or Mason. I walk over to the chief and say "there are two people in the house." He nods and says "do you know their names." I nod and say "Kayla Halstead and Mason Halstead. Mason is only a baby." He nods and sends people in. After a few minutes someone comes out carrying Kayla. I run over and the paramedic says "we need to get her to med now or she won't make it." I nod and step back as they close the door and drive off. I sit down and I see the cars of Intelligence and FBI turn up. Jay gets out and I say "Kayla is being taken to med. they haven't brought Mason out yet." He nods and gets back in his car before driving off. I look at the door and see someone running out. I get up to see them carrying Mason. I run over to the ambo and when they put Mason on the gurney the paramedic turns to me and says "as there are no parents are you riding." I smile and say "he does have parents and I am riding." She nods and I get in and sit holding Masons hand. When we arrive at the hospital I see a doctor waiting. The paramedic walks the gurney in and says "Mason Halstead caught in house fire." The doctor nods and rushes him off and I get told to sit in the waiting room. After a few minutes Jay walks in and sits next to me before saying "Kaylas going to make it but she has bad burns on her arms." I nod and say "is she awake." He smile and says "yeah room 265." I nod and get up before walking there. When I get inside she starts crying. I walk over and say "it's ok. We can get through this." She shakes her head and says "I lost our baby." I starts hugging her and she cries into my shoulder when a doctor walks in. He looks at us and says "Mason has some severe burns so we want to keep him in overnight. We might also have to do a skin graft and multiple surgeries but there is no reason for him to not make it." I nod and he walks out and Kayla goes to sleep so I walk out and sit next to Jay. I look at him and say "there is something I want to ask you." He smiles and says "you want to propose to her." I nod and he says "you make her happy so yes but you do one thing wrong and you won't see daylight again." I nod and sit there until I fall asleep.
