[daggers - part two]
[3rd]

"Crucio!" The unexpected curse caught her off guard, pushing her to the ground. She screamed and writhed on the ground in extreme pain, pushing her thoughts away.

Dizzy with pain, she stumbled to her feet as the spell wore off, staring at her mistress, astounded. "You're a witch?"

Her mistress cackled eviliy, casting another spell to knock her back down to the ground before she could have time to react. "When since- how-" she sputtered, choking on her own blood. Her mistress just laughed.

Her mistress' appearance began to change, and in mere seconds she was no longer the familiar mistress she knew, but a familiar face from the newspaper. She gasped in horror.

Bellatrix Lestrange stood before her, still laughing, a manical glint in her eye. To the girl's horror, she touched the dark mark exposed on her arm.

She curled up as Death Eaters surrounded her. She only had time to whisper "protego" and conjure a white shield weakly before the spells came.

It looked like a terrifying firework display, with spells shooting everywhere, ranging from the red 'crucio' to the green killing spell, and she faintly heard someone screaming "the Dark Lord wants her alive, don't kill her!" as she tried to crawl away, but was struck by a body bind.

She thought she was caught as she was dragged to the corner, but the lights didn't cease. She felt a light hand caress her wounds, and flinched. The hand remained on her bleeding stomach, and she felt a wand move across the wound. The wound immediately stopped bleeding. Surprised, she tried to sit up, but it was too painful. A hand supported her back, lowering her back to the ground.

Her conscious was flickering now, and she barely saw the figure kneeling over her, her saviour, and she noticed the silver mask with the black robes. She held her breath, shocked that a death eater would help her. She heard a voice whispering in her ear, assuring her that it was fine, with the shouts and lights still going on where she was before the death eater had pulled her out.

She now heard more shouts, some people in dark blue robes running in. She saw a familiar girl with bright red  hair- Lily- running towards her out of the corner of her eye, and she looked into the eyes of the death eater who had saved her. She shockingly found them familiar and comforting.

She closed her eyes, the beautiful silvery grey orbs imprinted in her mind.

She shook herself out of the memory of the previous night. Stupid, she scolded herself. You're safe now, You're with Lily, you don't need to worry about your mistress again. You're already graduated, time to stand up in the real world.

As if on cue, Lily walked through the door, James behind her, looking apologetic. She immediately sat up, wincing at the pain.

"You're awake! Are you alright?" Lily rushed to her side, James following. He sat on her bed, avoiding her eye.

"Sis- I'm sorry, I didn't hear the noise until it was too late- I'm sorry I never treated you correctly- I should have checked on you more or talked to Sirius about the teasing- I'm so sorry-" he was cut off by her drawing him into a hug.

In that moment, she forgave James for everything- teasing, abandoning her for the boys. "I couldn't be mad if I tried." James brightened up considerably at her words, that smile that she missed so much on his lips.

James and Lily filled her up on the attack on her house. They still had no idea on whoever saved her, and she lied, saying that she was already unconscious when Lily arrived. She had a sneaking suspicion she knew who had saved her, but she wasn't about to say anything in case it got out and caused trouble.

She had been tortured under Bellatrix Lestrange for years. She had coped with the pain for ages, and still did her best for the people around her. She became Head Girl, the best in her year, all under the pressure of panic attacks. She thought of the numerous muggleborns, tortured like her, killed, or even worse. She wanted to prevent all that. She would do what it took to let a new generation grow up in peace and happiness, not in the cursed and painful environment she grew up in.

She remembered Professor Dumbledore briefing her on her first day as Head Girl, hinting to her that if Regulus had stayed he might be standing there with her then, and she remembered what Regulus had wanted before he had been yanked out of school. She recalled how Regulus had been upset over the orders of Lord Voldemort, how he had wanted to help the muggleborns. She remembered the attacks against muggleborns, the bullying she tried to stand against. She now knew clearly what the Regulus she knew would have wanted her to do. She knew what she wanted to do.

She turned to the couple next to her. "Let me join the resistance thing you're in. I want to fight."

Lily started to protest, but James knew better. "You're sure? It's dangerous."

"But it's the right thing to do. The Lord thing out there- he's terrorizing people. I have to stand. I will lay down my life if it sets us free from this treachery." Her tone was firm, and James knew she was serious.

Lily started, "it's not up to us-" but James interrupted, "Dumbledore would approve, I know he would, she was Head Girl after all and she's loyal enough."

James turned to look at her, and she knew she was accepted. In her mind those silvery gray eyes looked back at her, encouraging, and she knew that Regulus would have approved of her choice.

She didn't hesitate to nod and take James' extended hand as he told her,

"Welcome to the Order of the Phoenix."
