Chapter 4

MONDAY
I stand by my locker with Lana.
Lana:"What happened Friday?
Lexy thought you walked from her house,did you?"
Hailee:"Uhrr yes."
Lana:"All alone? You could've gotten kidnapped or worse..."
Hailee:"Relax,I'm okay now."
Lana:"Okay."
Hailee:"Can't wait to see Mr James though."
Lana:"Oh me too."
Max:"Yo my girls."
He hugs us both.
Lana:"Hey."
Max:"If you guys are talking about Mr James,I'm out."
We're quiet.
Max:"Really?!!...Really?!!"
He walks away and smile,leaving us laughing at his reaction.

LUNCH
Max:"Someone's got a crush."
He winks catching me daydreaming.
Lana:"She's in love."
Am I?

Hailee:"I am not Jeez."
Lana:"Can't blame her. The man is sex on legs."
I smile at those true words.
Max:"A nice man like that will never sweep you off your feet."
Hailee:"True."
Lana:"You never know."
Max finally munches on his slice of pizza,then pulled his fave once he swallowed.
Hailee:"What's wrong?"
He pushes his tray with food forward.
Max:"Tastes like shit."
I laugh.
Lana:"That's why I never choose that when it's lunch."

Max:"Hey Uhm...how's your mom?"
Hailee:"Uhm,she's good."
Max is like her second child.
Max:"When are you seeing your dad?"
Hailee:" Maybe this weekend."
He nods.
He never asked me about my mom before. Oh come on he's like a brother to me Theres nothing to worry about.
He cares.

MATH CLASS
Mr James:"Good Afternoon class take your seats."
We all sat down in unison. I remember we wrote that test on Friday.
Mr James:"I'll be handing out the tests so you can check how great you people did."
Max:"A plus motherbitches."
Mr James:"Language Max."
Hailee:" You got an A Max? That's nice...from all that studying we did together."
James looks at me and I blush.
as he hands my test with a smile.
I Hi-5 them.
Hailee:"Good job."
And for this whole period we didn't work.

Later on the bell rings. Everyone hands in their tests and leaves before me. I pack up last and Mr Hottie is writing something down.
Mr James:"Not bad for a B Miss Steinfield, that's competent."
He says never leaving his eyes off the writing.
Hailee:"I'll get an A next time...I promise."
Mr James:"You're very confident. I like that."
I hand him my test."

Mr James:"I never wanted you to leave that morning."
He finally looks at me.
Hailee:"What?"
He steps closer.
Mr James:"I wanted you to stay."
He whispers.
I look down. I can't look at his eyes that makes me melt.
He lifts my chin up and I stare into his dark chocolate eyes.
Mr James:"You don't have to be shy."
Hailee:"I'm not shy. I just don't understand. You said you're married. You said two kids."

Mr James:"I lied."
Hailee:"Why?"
Mr James:"Because I knew what those girls were in for."
I nod in understandment.
My subconscious screams YESS!!!
What is this Oh-so-young-charmingly-handsome-greek god
doing to me?
Mr James:"As much as I want to kiss those lips of yours...I have a meeting to attend to so
I'll see you tomorrow."
Whoa whoa whoa...what???
Kiss me??
Max walks in the class room and we quickly step away from each other.
Mr James:"You need to pull your socks up and focus more...got that?"
Hailee:"Yes sir."
Mr James:"Off you go."
I walk out. Oh my God.
What just happened??
Max:"Did you forget you're my ride home?"(chuckles)
Hailee:"I'm sorry."
Max:"Let's go."
We leave.

I'm playing basket ball with Max at home. My mom pulls the car in the garage getting out.
Kate:"Hey daughter. Hey son."
Max smiles.
Max:"Since when did you become my mom?"
He stood still, looking at my mom and I took my chance to grab the ball from him, bouncing it while I ran.
Hailee:"She shoots..."
I threw the ball high so it landed into the loop.
Hailee:"And she scores,unlike you basketball boy. Thanks for being a distraction mom."
Max:"That was pretty impressive soccer girl."
Hailee:"I'm taking a break."
Max:"Bring me a bottle of water please."
I ran inside.

Max's POV
Kate:"Max you're so good for Hailee."
Max:"I'm not into girls... I like the women."
Kate:"Women huh?"
Max:"Yeah,me and Hails are just..."
Kate:"Friends?"
Max:"It's not her that I want."
Here goes my honesty...
Kate:"Who is it then?"

And right by that second,I kiss my best friends mother.
It took her a while to realize what was actually happening here. I've liked Kate because I got to know her better, we spent a lot of time together with Hailee. Kate is beyond amazing.

"Whoa."
An unknown voice speaks.

Crap! Things was just getting good.
Kate:"Oh God,Mell what are you doing here?"
She face palms.
Mell:"I miss my sister,I came for a visit,where's hubby?
Mell?...sister?
Why does she look so old?
Even Kate looks better, she's got a banging body for 33.

Kate:"My ex husband doesn't live here I told you this before."
She looks annoyed.
This Mell woman is obtuse. Her voice irritates me.
Kate:"Max,I think you should go."
I'm sad. She wants me gone.
Yeah thanks a lot Kate's sister.
I say in my head,rolling my eyes.
Mell:"Who is this young cute blondie with blue eyes? Are you two boyfriend and girlfriend?"
Max:"Uhm no."
Mell:"No?"
Max:"Yes,I mean yes."
Kate is frowning at me as in What?
and Hailee walks out.
I drink my water.
Mell:"Give your aunt a hug!"
Hailee:"Aunty Mell. I'm surprised you're here."
They hug.
Mell:"Your mom has a sexy boyfriend don't you think?"
Hailee:"No she's married."
Hailee frowns.

Mell:"Oh so the two of you are married now?"
I turn red,drinking more water.
Shut up bitch!...Jeez.
Hailee:"Uhm,long time. You were at the wedding."
She thinks its her dad they're talking about.
Mell:"Was I? Wow I definitely don't remember that."
(Laughs)
Kate:"Let's all go inside."
Mell:"Are you staying Max?"
Max:"I've got a thing to do so I'll go."
Mell:"Kiss her goodbye."
Oh good god LADY!!!
I would love to...but now is not the time right folks??

Hailee:"Kiss who goodbye?"
She looks confused.
Kate:"You."
She whispers in Hailees ear.
Kate:"He doesn't give kisses in front of people."
Mell:"Mmm...the shy type I see."
I frown.
Max:"Okay?,Bye."
I leave.

Hailees POV
We eat dinner and Aunt leaves.
She is one weird lady...she was acting so strange.
I showered,brushed my teeth and combed my hair into a messy bun.
It's 19:32 and I'm listening to music on my phone.
Lana texted me to sleep over at her house. Her parents are not at home,maybe she's scared of being alone.
My mom allowed me to go so I packed a few things and I sent her a message saying that  I'll be there in a few.
I got in the car and hit the road.
