Coffee AU. They are in their mid-twenties.
Narrator's Pov
If it's one thing the workers of Gold Crown Cafe all know, it's that their cashier Fakir hates people.
It's quite ironic actually that management put the least people friendly person on the register. Literally everyone else that works there has more tolerance for people than he does. Even Rue, who tends to look down on people at times, has better people skills than Fakir does. Someone like Mytho who works there would be much better for the register but yet grumpy Fakir is the one who has to deal with people the most.
Needless to say, Fakir hates his job.
Though he doesn't dislike the cafe in itself, and he's struggling too much financially to hate it, he hates being cashier. He'd rather make the drinks like Rue does or serve tables like Mytho or even bake like Autor. All of those jobs require less people service than his. It's only a few seconds of just handing them their order and that's it. But no, he had to be put in the front listening to people say the dumbest things.
He has no patience for people, let alone dumb people. He and people are just not a good combination. Even his co-workers irk his nerves sometimes. It takes him more self-restraint than most to not punch Autor in the face every time he smirks. He's always going back and forth with Rue, like siblings do admittedly, until Mytho comes and tells his girlfriend to stop annoying him. Mytho is probably the other person, besides Karon and Uzura of course, that doesn't irritate his soul. But even having all that said, those people don't nearly irritate him nearly as much as the people who enter this cafe do. His patience is tested more than it ever should be when he comes to work.
Like right now.
"Welcome to Gold Crown Cafe, what would you like?" Fakir asks in a dry tone.
He has no time to be a people pleaser.
"I want a large iced skinny hazelnut macchiato, sugar-free syrup, extra shot, light ice, no whip. Oh and make it decaf," the girl says.
Fakir stares at her as the words come out of her mouth.
Now he's no stranger to any of those things separately but together he is. What the hell is all of that? Not to mention, they aren't that type of cafe, you can't be that picky. And did she really just ask for an extra shot but then said to make it decaf? Did those words seriously come out of her mouth? What's the point of the extra shot then?
He turns to Rue to make sure he's not the only one who heard this. Her look tells him that he's not going crazy. She mouths to him though to be nice. And it means something if RUE is telling him to be nice. She was the one who let him curse out a customer when the jerk came back and demanded his money back after drinking his entire cup, claiming that it wasn't what he ordered.
Heard an earful from Mr. Cat, their manager, but it was worth it after seeing the pale look on the jerk's face when Fakir was done with him. And Rue personally found it hilarious.
So if she's telling him to be nice than he must be past his weekly allowance of rude comments to customers.
He takes a deep breath in and forces a half smile so he doesn't look like he's going to murder someone.
"I'm sorry Miss but we don't do all of that here. You could order something else or go to Starbucks if you want that specific of an order. Can I help you with anything else?" He responds.
"What do you mean you won't do that? How rude of you, I'm telling your manager! I'm never coming here again," the woman says in an annoyingly shrilly voice.
