Fakiru One-Shots

Park time

AU: Ahiru and Fakir as kids. Ahiru was always a human. She's just adopted. Also Fakir's name is not really mentioned but you can tell who he is.

Ahiru's Pov 

It's that kid again.

"Mommy, mommy it's him. He's reading again at the park." I say pointing to him.

He seems so strange. All he does is read under the same tree. What kid reads at the park? Why doesn't he play?

"Ahiru it's not nice to point. It's ok if he likes reading. Now go play and have fun. I'll be right here watching you ok." Mommy says.

I quickly go to the little ducks swimming in the lake. I love feeding the ducks.

"Here you go ducky. A nice piece of bread." I say to the first duck swimming towards me.

The little duck eats the bread. Soon his friends come over and eat too. I run out of bread pretty quick.

"Sorry duckies, I'm all out." I say showing my hands to them.

I watch them swim away. They swim so nicely in water but on land they are so clumsy like. I know because people call me a duck. And I'm very clumsy.

I see a mama duck swimming with her baby ducks behind her. Five little ducks behind her.

But something catches my eye from the corner.

It's a swan.

A swan dancing gracefully. Well swimming gracefully. It's so beautiful.

"Wow." I whisper.

I didn't notice myself leaning closer to the lake. That is until I felt myself losing my balance. I try to catch myself preparing to fall in to the cold lake.

But the cold feeling of water doesn't come. Instead I'm pulled back really hard by my braid. I fall back on my butt. I look back to see it's that boy.

"Watch it you idiot. You could've fell in the water. I doubt you know how to swim by the looks of it." He says meanly.

I puff my cheeks out as they turn red.

"I'm not an idiot. And I can swim. A little." I say.

I really can't swim but I can float.

"Floating doesn't count." He says.

I just glare at him. He thinks he's so smart.

"Whatever. Just be more careful. I've seen you before. You're just like a duck. What are you six?" He says.

"I'm eight and a half. How old are you?" I say.

"Ten." He answers plainly.

Ten! But he's so tall. And he doesn't act like he's ten.

"Ten. But you look older. And you don't act like a ten year old." I say shocked.

"And you're short for eight." He replies.

I puff out my cheeks. I'm not that short.

"Keep holding your breath like that and you won't breathe anymore you idiot." He says crossing his arms.

"I'm not an idiot you meanie." I say back.

He rolls his eyes and walks away. My mom wouldn't be happy if I forgot my manners.

"Hey wait." I shout.

"What." He answers.

"Thanks for saving me. I would've drowned if you didn't." I say.

I see a tint of red in his cheeks.

"It's nothing." He replies.

"Hey you want to play with me?" I suddenly ask.

"What?" He says turning to me.

"I asked if you wanted to play with me. We can read after if you want." I say.

I kinda feel bad that he's always by himself.

"Something tells me you wouldn't let me walk away if I said no." He says.

He walks back to me and he sits down right next to me.

"Do you like ducks? I love ducks. They are really cute. And they swim nicely. Also the swan is nice. I wish I was graceful like one. They..." I say.

"I get it. You talk too much." He says cutting me off.

I pout looking back to the water. I can't do nothing right with this kid.

"Hey, I'm sorry. Yeah I do like ducks. I usually feed them when you're not here." He says softly.

I look up and look at him with wide eyes.

"Really? Are you here everyday?" I ask.

"Yes. I come to read here and feed the ducks." He answers.

"Why do you read at the park?" I ask.

"It's more peaceful here. Besides I like the park." He replies.

"What are you reading?" I ask looking at his book.

"The Prince and the Raven." He answers.

"I've heard of that. It's about some Raven who attacks a prince right or something like that. " I say.

"Do you really want to know?" He asks looking skeptical of me.

"Yes. My teacher talks about it but said I couldn't read it because it's not my level. Can you read it to me?" I say.

"Uhh sure." He says.

He opens his book to the first page.

"Once upon a time..."
