Summary: Jimin sends his sincerest congratulations to the happy couple
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even after one year, they still fit together perfectly. The soft moans are music to Jimin's ears. Warm breath tickling his skin as lips are pressed into the soft flesh. Bruises form as the desire to claim overtakes the two lovers. It's perfect, just like how they were before; well, almost.
Jimin had just returned home. Diploma in hand and head full of dreams and aspirations.
Jungkook was stuck. Mundane life and a secret threatening to destroy the one thing keeping him sane. It was just a mistake. Jungkook repeats day after day, counting and waiting for a miracle.
When Jimin returns from college, a large celebration ensues. Friends and family come to congratulate his good work and bright future. All except one. Confused and hurt, Jimin pushes forward, painting a happy face for his friends.
"Have you seen Jungkook?" Jimin asks, repeating the phrase throughout the night only to be met with convoluted and unhelpful responses from his friends lost in a drunken stupor.
Jungkook sits at home. His phone has too many messages to count, each worse than the last. The guilt is slowly clawing its way into his throat. The words just can't seem to escape. Oh, how he wishes for one more chance. But he can't, he can't come. He just can't, the pain would envelop him and he would truly be lost, much like all his wild and naive dreams. She enters the room, knocking softly on the door.
"What are you thinking about?" Yuna asks, fingers caressing his nape.
"Nothing," he replies shortly. "You should be sleeping."
"So should you," she says before leaving the room. Her movements are awkward, off balance by her growing belly. Jungkook has to look away. A mistake.
Jungkook hangs his head in his hand, lost and confused by his feelings. He's all alone in a cruel world and all he needs is Jimin. He can still remember the late night escapades. Running through the city at dawn, basking in the warm glow of the growing sunshine. Finding comfort in each other's embrace on the darkest days and coldest nights. Standing on rooftops just to see the stars or watch the sunrise on the horizon. Gentle touches only done in secret for fear of being found.
Most importantly, his love. His undying, unfiltered love. It even blew Jungkook away, Jimin's capacity to love. Jungkook's a taker. Perfect, as Jimin is a giver. All Jungkook did was take and take. Maybe, Jimin no longer has anything to give.
Yuna's not him, and she never will be. Why didn't he think of that before?
Jimin's feet dangle off the roof. The breeze whips past him, rustling his hair. He always loved the thrill of heights. Watching the tiny people below, tempting death as he balanced on the edge. Only Jungkook could give him that thrill.
"I knew I would find you here." Jimin knows that voice, but he doesn't want to turn around.
"Jungkook." A warm body presses into his as Jungkook settles beside him, also dangling his feet over the edge. Jimin knows Jungkook doesn't like heights.
"I miss you."
"I know." Jimin closes his eyes, inhaling the cool morning air. Jungkook watches, he watches Jimin throw his head back, head tilted toward the sky. Jungkook suppresses the urge to press kisses into soft skin of his neck or lightly nibble on his earlobe. Anything just to hear those soft, breathy moans again. He looks content and happy, Jungkook notes. Things Jungkook could never give him.
They sit there in silence for hours, making up for lost time. No words need to be shared. Nothing Jungkook can say can make it better and nothing Jimin can say can make them believe it.
Jimin finally breaks it, "I want to see you again."
"You are."
"You know what I mean."
"I do."
"So what do you say?"
"No, I can't." Jimin laughs.
"Always so cautious, so reluctant. I'm surprised I ever loved you. I want you. I want you to kiss me, to love me. Just like before."
How can Jungkook say no to a request like that?
Jimin has always been impatient, needy. They barely make it home.
