I pulled on my hoodie and started walking outside. When I arrived at the park, I climbed onto the top of one of the playgrounds and awaited Scarlett's arrival. A couple minutes later she texted me

Scarlett: I see you loser

Me: Jeez what a stalker. Where even you are?

Then out of nowhere I felt something jump on me. I gasped then toppled back onto the ground. I was up quickly already ready to land a punch on whatever that was. then I heard Scarlett's laughter.

"You know I hate you right?" I said while smiling at her.

"Yes, it's one of my greatest joys." She responded back trying to stop laughing.

"I'll race you to the swings," I said trying to avoid an awkward silence.

"It's on" she said, determined

And with that we both stormed towards the swings. I obviously got there earlier because Scarlett wouldn't work out to save her life.

We sat on the swings as I watched her pull out a bag of Sour Patch.

As I was reaching to grab one, she pulled it away from my hand.

"If you get a blue one I will kill you" she said, sounding almost serious.

"But the blue one is my favorite" I said as I looked at her with puppy eyes.

"Ugh, fine you can have one. Your puppy eyes won me over" she said.

We then started talking about the party and I offered to pick her up.

While we sat facing each other, I admired the way the light shined on her. The streetlamps illuminated the features of her face: her long eyelashes, the slope of her nose, to the curve in her lips. As I was taking in her beauty, she realized that I wasn't listening to her conversation.

"Hellllooooo?" She said as she waved her hand in front of my face.

I came back to reality, "Oh hey"

"What's on your mind?" She asked with a worried look on her face

"Nothing." I said not wanting to tell her that it was HER. She was on my mind. Constantly. Since she introduced herself to me.

"No c'mon," She insisted

"It's just this girl I met recently. I think I'm really starting to like her but I know she doesn't like me back."

"Ooo. A girl? You'll never know unless you ask her." She said.

"Oh I don't know." I replied while looking down at my hands.

"You're a great guy. She would be stupid to say no." she said as she put her hand on my shoulder.

"I hope so." I shivered at the touch of her.

I wish that she would find out I was talking about her but at the same time I wanted it to remain hidden.

At 1 am we decided to go home. I walked her home because it was way too late to have her walk home alone even if it was a couple of blocks.

As we approached her house, she turned to me and gave me a hug.

"I'm really glad you trusted me to say all that. I feel a lot closer to you now." She said to me.

My heart was pounding through my chest as I smiled openly and hugged her back longer.

"Thank you for listening to me." I replied.

She walked towards her door and waved back.

"Bye. See you in a couple hours." She said.

"See ya" I said as she closed the door.

And with that, I turned around and started walking home. I recognized the street we were on and knew it would take me at least 30 minutes to walk home. It didn't really matter, because now I knew she was at home. Safe.

Beep beep beep

My alarm. Ew.

I got four hours of sleep which wasn't unusual for me. But for some reason I felt so much more tired. I got ready for school and wanted to actually walk to school to combat my tiredness. As I was one block in, I immediately regretted it.

Why did you even try walking? When have you ever enjoyed exercise

After cursing myself out in my head for 5 minutes, I got to school and started to head towards my locker. Everyone was on edge today because they knew I would be making my decision. I was too tired to even acknowledge all the attention that was coming my way for most of my classes.

When the bell rang I saw Hunter and Sebastian start walking towards me from opposite sides of the hallway. Soon we all met up in the middle and everyone stared at us from their places.

"Skip fifth period and come to the roof," Sebastian ordered.

"Um, why the roof?" I asked. "Why can't we do this here?"

"Because we need to have a long private conversation about which side you're going to choose. You're already getting a lot of attention at this school, you don't want the whole school frustrating you." Hunter added.

"Okay. Fine. Fifth period it is." I said and started walking towards Jade and Lily.

"What was all that about? It doesn't look like you gave them your decision." Jade said.

"That's supposed to happen at the roof during fifth period." I told Jade and Lily. "Could you guys show up too. I need you guys to be there."

"Of course. I wanted to have a good reason to ditch anyways." Lily answered

The rest of the day went by fast and consisted of me sleeping in class and talking to Anthony about what time he would pick me up.

When the bell rang for fifth period to start, I made my way up to the roof, I saw both Sebastian and Hunter on opposite sides. When they saw me, they both quickly approached me and stood close to me.

"We have to wait for Jade and Lily." I said with a worried tone.

"Jade and Lily? Why would you tell them?" Hunter questioned me as Jade and Lily walked in.

"Because I choose them." I announced.
