Harmony Pov.

I was in my room for 5 minutes for a nap when I woke up due to pounding on my door and I knew that it was my dad. He does it every day when something is wrong with the house.

I open the door and I see my dad staring down at me looking pissed. All I can think about is what didn't I do.

" how may I help you sir?" I asked politely.

" I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO CLEAN THIS DAMN HOUSE." He yelled viciously.

I was about to say something, but all I got was a slap to the face. I started to cry and he slapped me again telling me to stop crying. He dragged me downstairs by my hair.

" WHAT IS THIS?" He asked.

I looked at where he was pointing at, it was a few empty beer cans, two empty vodka bottles and food wrappers scattered on the floor.

"I-I'll clean i-it u-up I-I pr-promise." I stuttered.

He then pushed me into the trash and my hands broke the glass from the hard push. I ignored the pain in my hands and picked up the cans and bottles.

When I was done cleaning in the living room, I threw them in the kitchen recycling bin and started to fix dinner for our guest that is coming soon.

My step-mom Erin walked in and the first thing she did was look at my hands, looking surprised for some reason.

" oh my god sweetie, what happened to your hands?" She asked.

She had looked at me with so much concern but if I told her the truth I knew that she wouldn't believe me. I rolled my eyes before responding.

" um ... I fell outside on my way home." I lied.

" well be careful next time."

Was all she told me before she left. I got ingredients to make my dad's favorite meal which was meatloaf and string beans. I was making the meatloaf when my dad came in looking upset again.

" what are you making for dinner shadow?" He asked.

" sir I'm making m-meatloaf with st-string b-beans." I stuttered.

He nodded and walked out of the kitchen. Leaving me to cry myself wishing that I could runaway and be happy.

~ 1 hour later

When the meatloaf was finally done, I kept it in the oven while I went upstairs to my room to change into something that was more presentable.

In my room I stand in front of my closet before choosing a purple floral knee length dress, and white sneakers.

There was a knock on the door and I hurried to get it thinking it was my father. When I opened it, I saw that it was Erin and quietly sighed with relief.

" yes?" I say.

" I'm going to pick up Berkley from the airport." She responded.

I nodded my head as she was turning away. I wanted to ask if my dad was going with her but I decided not too.

As I started to walk downstairs I saw Dad was in his chair looking at an old photo album with pictures with him and my mom. My mom left when I was 3 and till this day, my dad blames me.

" why did you have to leave me mommy?" I said to myself.

I was looking at him from the stairs with tears in my eyes for about 20 minutes. Before realizing I still had to get dinner ready.

I ran into the kitchen to take the meatloaf and string beans out and put the on plates. As I was leaving the kitchen the door opened.

It was Erin and cute girl. My grey eyes locked with her blue ones and she smiled at me, and I blushed.
