Cody's POV
So I decided to take Howie's and Patrick's advice. During dinner one night I decided to talk about getting my license. Before bringing this up I had been studying a bit to be prepared if they said yes. It's not like I didn't have my permit already which my sister did not have hers yet so she wouldn't be driving anytime soon. Meaning I might have to start driving her places. Taking a bus or walking to the mall was a pain. The only reason I didn't take a bus to work because it would be a long walk to it even if I did. So a car would be very beneficial to me I guess. I could also drive us to school. And my mom- well also him, Terrance agreed with me on those points too and well they probably weren't going to disagree with me in the first place about getting a license.
"Well Terrance can take you tomorrow." my mom said with a smile as she took a bite of her spaghetti and I just stared at her.
My mom finally looked up from enjoying her meal realizing I had a problem with that. Which I couldn't believe she thought I would be okay with that. Natalie glanced at my mom then me before she got up to put her dishes in the sick. She quickly left right after. Terrance cleared his throat making me look at him slightly with a dirty look. Mom soon turned her head to look at him too.
"Well, Cody your mom has work tomorrow while I don't. But if you want your mom or someone else to take you that's okay," he said before taking a sip of his drink and I rolled my eyes grumbling.
There he goes trying to make me like him. I guess I was hard on him. Wait- no I wasn't! I just was protective over my mom, well protective over my family. He should understand plus my dad was my father figure and always will be. I thought things over as I finished off my plate and drink.
"No, it's fine," I said as I put the dishes in the sink. "You can take me tomorrow," I said turning on the sink and started washing the dishes.
He and mom finished off their dinner. I cleaned their dishes to help mom out. Mom came over and gave me a kiss on the head as I finished up. She thanked me probably more about the Terrance thing than helping out in the kitchen. Terrance was smiling at me and her. It made me want to gag but I decided against it as they both happily went up the stairs.
I hope that didn't mean what I thought it did. Him placing his hand on her lower back only made me glare. I hoped they weren't going to do anything tonight to celebrate me "giving him a chance" as they would call it. Shaking away the thoughts I also headed up the stairs and headed to my room.
"Good job!" my sister called to me making me roll my eyes at the congratulations she was pretty much giving me.

The next morning I woke up by not an alarm. Not by myself just waking up like normal during the weekend. But a person woke me up. And that person was none other than Terrance. The whole day I was cranky about it. From eating cereal and making things uncomfortable with my ugly looks towards Natalie or Terrance. Mom was still asleep so she didn't have to endure me being grumpy.
When we got in the car Terrance let out a sigh. I put on my seatbelt to avoid hearing his mouth but seemed like that wouldn't save me. He turned his face in my direction instead of starting the car. I'm pretty sure I gave him a look telling him with my eyes to start the car and what the heck is he doing staring at me?
"Son I'm not going to deal with your attitude forever," he sighed shaking his head with his eyes closed before turning to the road.
"I'm not your son Terrance." I scoffed and leaned my head in my hand.
"Yeah, I got the message kid," he grumbled as he started the car.
"I'm no-" he interrupted me as he drove out of the parking lot.
"Not a kid, got it. Let's just get this over so you don't have to deal with me for a while okay?" he spoke and I blinked at him for a bit as he drove but he didn't even glance at me.
"Yeah..yeah," I muttered looking away and the floor seemed pretty interesting at the moment.
During the ride, my eyes would look out the window or floor. Sometimes I would glance at Terrance but he would not glance at me. Guess my normal attitude towards him and crankiness made him give up. And I guess I was giving up since he gave up. Or seemed to at the moment. The whole ride to the place was awkwardly quiet. He didn't even try to fill the silence with music.
When we got there he dropped me off so he could find a place to park. He said he would come in as soon as he was done. I went inside on my own and eventually some lady in what seems her fifties helped me get all set up. I had to show her my permit and all the proof needed to be seen first before she gave me the written test. In the middle of the written test, I heard someone come in. I saw Terrance walk in and he took a seat. I took the vision test next then lastly took the driving test.
Everything was fine until I took my picture. I had passed my tests well and everything. Then I was handed my drivers license to see if everything was correct. Terrance had come over to pay fees and I found a problem, a huge problem!
"What the hell is this?!" I barked at the lady pointing to my nose and she blinked then squinted at my picture.
"A pimple." she simply said as Terrance was giving me a weird look.
"That is not a pimple. It's huge and disgusting!" I yelled waving my license around and Terrance ended up laughing his ass off with the lady.
"Aren't pimples normal for your age?" Terrance asked as we walked to the door, him ignoring my protests on how my picture needed to be fixed.
"I want it off my face!" I yelled as we walked out to the parking lot and he shook his head patting my shoulder.
"I'll bring the car over while you accept there's a pimple on your face." Terrance chuckled and I glared at him as he walked away.
So this will possibly be the last update for a while. If not though I do plan to try to update once a week. Right now work is getting tough on me though so it might be once a month. Hopefully not. Maybe I should do once every two weeks. And this is for not only this book but the other two that aren't completed as well I hope. Haha I keep adding hope just in case things don't go as planned. Anyway have a good day/night!
