Cody's POV
Then I noticed the person with her, it was Ashton. I didn't know what the hell was going on. I hadn't seen these two together since my freshman year. He was smiling, she was smiling. They were laughing, a way I hadn't seen them do at all with me for a long time.I didn't know it, but I was making my way toward them. Before I could get there Ashton had disappeared from my view. It happened so quick, I had no idea where he went. I would deal with that later then maybe. Now I needed to deal with her.
"What are you doing here?" I ask causing her to quickly turn around.
"What are you doing here?" she asks back with a hand on her hip.
"I asked first, you shouldn't be here." I say glaring as she rolls her eyes.
"I don't see why not, I'm not doing anything bad. I heard there was a party and invited an old friend to come. We started talking again lately." she says smiling softly. "It's almost like old times again, well not really but being friends again really is just...great. It's exactly what I needed right now."
Something snapped, it was quick just like my reaction.
"I don't see why you needed that, I'm here for you. So is mom, you've just always been in your damn phone lately. You're acting like you're having such a rough time." I scoffed and the smile on her face disappears. "You're already probably going to be Homecoming Queen."
"Now I know, you of all people aren't talking." she says glaring.
"I'm the one who has issues and need friends. Don't you got some? Besides, I invited him to this party and he said no. Why would he say yes you you?" I glare back.
"Don't you have some? Ashton was my friend before yours, not my fault if he and others realized you aren't worth it!" she snaps.
Before I could say anything, the devil himself appeared. He had to cups of hopefully not spiked punch in his hands. He glanced at me before handing Natalie a cup.
"Hey." Ashton says looking at me then everywhere else.
"So, you decided to come after all." I say glaring.
"Yeah..sorry." he says sighing as he took a sip.
"Why?" I ask balling up my fists.
"I told you why." he says looking at me with those cold eyes.
"But I'm trying to fix things." I say glaring. "I am trying so hard, but you just..ugh!" I throw my hands up on the air. "Am I just like your uber?"
He scoffs and laughs a little, his cold eyes boring into me. Those eyes were slowly driving me crazy. I wanted the soft ones, the ones he showed Natalie. The ones that seemed to just bright up the world, back when-
"The tables have been turned, how does it feel to be in your position? I'm sure I felt a lot worse last year. You're blind, you just want what you want. You don't care what others want. You can't just fix something all the time, especially if you aren't actually trying to admit your wrong doings!" he yells and his voice chokes out words at the end.
Before I could reply, most of the colorful lights are turned off. Ashton was suddenly out of my view. Some bright white-yellowish lights is turned on, shining on the middle of the stage. Ashton walked onto the stange, and stood under the light gripping onto a microphone.
He tapped his foot on the stage as music started to play. At first his voice was shaky but then he was swaying, and dancing as he sang. His eyes that were once looking above the crowd, as I know he would do was now looking directly our way. My way, staring bullets right into me.
"Now that the truth, is just a rule, that you can bend!" he sings with his eyes seeming to burn blue flames. They never looked that way before. "Shape shift and trick, the past again."
Natalie glanced at me, her eyes were cold but not as effective as his were. "You're really an ass you know." she says shaking her head.
"Everyone, oooo, pulls away, from yoouu." Ashton sings staring directly into my eyes as people clap, stomp, sing or dance to his voice.
"Listen to the lyrics, it fits you perfectly." Natalie says glaring at me.
It felt like she just slapped me in the face. I wasn't that kind of person. I wasn't... I didn't say anything to her, I just moved along the crowd to look for Darby or Austin. But instead I bumped into none other than Logan.
"O-Oh hey-" I start to say.
"Be more careful." is all he says and brushes past me like I was nothing.
I swallow hard, feeling my eyes burn. I start hearing toward the door. I had enough of tonight. This party was a horrible idea. Finally I find Darby- well he finds me. But it's too late now, I just want to be alone.
"Dude, I've been looking for you. Where were you?" Darby asks grabbing my shoulder gently but I pull away from him. I continue heading for the door, eventually leaving.
I was going to go straight to Patrick's. But the song Ashton was singing invaded my head. All I could think about is that and last year. Patrick would probably only agree. I didn't want that right now. Someone I was never really close to and live close by was Lance. Logan was at the party, and he didn't look like he would be leaving anytime soon. So that's where I went.
I knocked on the door and rung the doorbell, it didn't take too long for the door to swing open. Lance leaned against the door with a messy head, rubbing his eye and face with his arm.
"What are you doing here?" he asks peering from his glasses as I sniff making him blink slowly. "Come in.." he says sighing as he opens the door fully.
Once I'm inside, he's in the kitchen getting me a drink. He comes back with two mugs in his hand. "So...Logan is still ignoring you, huh?" he says passing me a mug and I nod sighing.
I take a huge gulp from the mug, my throat instantly burns. I cough a little and he grins a little. "I thought you could take a drink Cody." he says making me roll my eyes.
"Just pour me some more, I'll leave in a bit." I say drinking the rest and he shakes his head sipping from his mug.
"You can crash here for the night, our parents aren't home. And Logan is at a party so once he gets home he'll probably go straight to bed. You just have to leave before he sees you." he says placing the mug on the coffee table.
"Thanks...I'm sorry we don't hang out much." I say as he pours me some more.
"It's fine, I didn't particularly like you in the first place." he says smirking as I roll my eyes.
"Then why did you let me in?" I ask drinking some from the mug.
"I somehow pity you." he says spinning his drink a little.
"You sound like Patrick, I didn't go to him for a reason." I say glaring.
"Oh I see, you don't want the truth. Well he would have probably been a better choice, he's much nicer than me." he says with a shrug.
"Just, I need comfort right now. I made a huge mistake that night..." I say shaking my head.
"Logan isn't going to forgive you for that...like you want him to." he says sighing.
Somehow Lance comforted me. Even though he said Patrick would have been a better choice he was wrong.
