Remember those moments when you were little and the excitement you felt when you're birthday was coming up? How you couldn't sleep because the next day you were going to be a year older, you're parents where going to make you a party and all your friends would come over. You'd have a great time, people will sing to you, you'd cut the cake and be enjoying yourself. You'd be happy, you'd be celebrating with your family.

For me, I dreaded every year when it was my birthday, I'd spend my day laying in bed, overthinking everything. My Pop's would bake me a cupcake, he'd sing to me and I would accept it for his sake. I wouldn't be excited as he expected, I simply eat the cupcake and go back to bed, I'd sleep all day and the next morning I would go back to being my regular self, just another year of life, no big deal.

As I opened my eyes, I glanced over to my clock on the nightstand next to bed to see the time and the date. Groaning loudly I threw the covers on top of my head, can't this day just be over already. I stayed laying in bed contemplating whether to go back to sleep or go downstairs when I heard a knock on my door.

"Sunshine?", I wrapped the covers around me tighter myself as I heard my father opening my bedroom door.

"Happy birthday to you, happy happy birthday to my beautiful sunshine!" Pop's yelled as he threw himself on top of me, groaning loudly as his weight squished me, "get off of me, your heavy".

"Nope! I shall shower the birthday girl with love and tickles", he began to tickle my sides as he planted sloppy kisses on my face, leaving his saliva everywhere.

"Okay...stop...eww...ok-kay okay-y I cant breath-h" I managed to say as he got off of me, only to wrap me in a bone crushing hug, "my sunshine is no longer a baby, she's a grown woman now".

I gave up in my attempts to escape him and wrapped my arms around his waist, "Sometimes you make me question your maturity".

Smacking my shoulder lightly, he placed a kiss on my head, "I'm just showing my favorite daughter how much I love her".

"I am your only daughter"

"Oh shut it, get up and get dressed, breakfast will be ready soon".

"Will you make Nutella pancakes?"

He put a finger on his chin as if he was in deep thinking, after a while he smiled widely at her, "anything for the birthday girl".

After a quick shower I decided putting on a decent outfit which consisted of black jeans with a sleeveless yellow croptop and my white vans. I decided to straighten my hair and put some makeup on which was only mascara, blush and lipgloss. I made my way downstairs to see my father serve a plate of pancakes, smiling like a five year old who just entered a candy shop I sat down on the table and began to eat them.
