Chapter 5 [REWRITTEN] : Aurora

"We're doing it then?" Bexley exclaimed in excitement, bouncing on her seat.

"I think it's a sweet deal," I replied, looking through the details Elora presented to me in the file laid out on the counter.

"Definitely," she agreed as she stepped towards the cherry-colored phone to call the client.

Bexley shot up and skipped over to my side. "One hundred and fifty cupcakes and a hundred cookies, Aurora!"

A smile sneaked its way onto my lips. "Yes, and we better get to work before we run out of time."

With Elora managing the bakery, Bexley and I worked our way around the kitchen to get the order ready for a restaurant grand opening celebration in two days.

"We've been meaning to ask about what happened last night." She asked as she started mixing the dough for the cookies.

I laughed at her curiosity. Soon, Elora joined us too as they listened in to some general details about what happened with Jacob.

"So, what about that man from the other day?"

Elora and I let out a loud laugh. "He's still thinking about you falling. Don't worry."

She rolled her eyes before landing a hit on Elora with the towel that was resting peacefully on the table. "You know I am not asking about that."

"I bumped into him at a lounge with one of my friends," I stated, mostly to myself as I recalled the moment that has been playing in my mind once again.

They dropped everything and by everything, I meant everything. The rolling pin was rolling off the counter before I caught it at the edge. "No way!" Elora exclaimed as she grabbed onto my collar and shook me. "Tell us you're lying," she screamed into my face as I dusted the flour off my black blouse.

"First of all, you shouldn't be shaking your boss like this. Second, I got drunk, and I kissed him."

Their jaws dropped onto the floor. "You're full of surprises! Why would you eat his face like that?" Bexley said humorously.

"I think I saw Liam at the bar, but maybe I was mistaken. I got nervous and tried to hide."

Her eyes softened. "Aurora. He sounded like a psychopath when you told me about him. I wouldn't think twice about whether or not he's here. They've been looking for you for the past two years. It's only a matter of time."

She's right.

"I don't want to think about them right now." I rushed away to get the rest of the ingredients as I heard Elora's faint voice in the background as she followed me.

"Aurora. Bexley's right," she repeated.

"What am I supposed to do then? I'm not even sure if it was him or not and I was drunk so it doesn't make it any better. I don't even remember how I ended up in Dante's bedroom when I woke up, Elora!" I ran my fingers through my hair as I freaked out.

She looked at me like I had two heads, "Who's Dante?"

"The man that saw Bexley fall," I exclaimed as my arms dropped to my sides.

She paled and looked like she was about to collapse any moment. "His what now?"

Bexley appeared out of nowhere. "What did I miss?"

"She had sex with a stranger," she sobbed into her hands.

"What?!" Bexley choked on the cookie dough she was chewing and almost broke her neck at how fast she turned her head in my direction.
