Chapter 3 [REWRITTEN] : Aurora

The constant throb in my head woke me up from my slumber. I was on a surprisingly soft bed, and it definitely didn't feel like mine though. When I peeled my eyes open, I realized that I didn't know where I was.

Terrifically amazing.

The first thing that caught my attention were the shelves in the room neatly filled with books, the dimmed lights in the soaring ceilings, and a desk with piles of paperwork on the other side of the room.

The curtain was slightly ajar and the city lights seeping in from the floor-to-ceiling windows were brighter than ever, making me groan in discomfort.

"You are awake." I heard a familiar voice and the sound of a paper being flipped.

I snapped my head to the direction of the sound and saw Dante sitting on an armchair in the corner of the room with the lamp beside him on. He had a book in his hand, but his eyes never peeled away from the pages. I could see the faint outline of his firm muscles through his slightly unbuttoned white dress shirt.

"How are you feeling, sweetheart? There is water and Advil on the nightstand." He glanced up before looking back at the book in his hand as the corners of his lips pulled up a little.

I hummed hoarsely in response, getting up to retrieve it. "Thank you. What time is it?" My voice was coated with sleep and my throat felt extremely dry.

He peered down at his watch on his left wrist. "Almost five in the morning. You should go back to sleep."

"Where are we?" I asked again.

"In my penthouse. You passed out last night."

I felt my face flush, as I tried to remember what happened last night.

I went out to drink with Lucy, got drunk, and saw Liam. Wait, was it Liam I that saw in the lounge or someone who looked similar?

His soothing voice snapped me away from my thoughts. "Do you remember what I said last night?"

No, and I do not want to remember either.

"You kissed me. I mean, pounced at me." He continued.

I winced. I forgot about that. "I am very sorry, I–"

"Ah, ah. Answer my question." He smirked as he tossed the book on the glass table in front of him. He gave me his full attention, folding his hands and resting them lazily on his lap.

My body sank further into the sheets as I brought it closer to my body. "I don't remember."

"Hm. Should I help you recall it?"

I responded too fast, "No, thank you. That is very much appreciated."

Just as I was about to lift to sheets to get up and literally dash for the door, he pinned me with a look.

"Good night," I squeaked and tucked myself back to bed with my heart hammering out of my chest.

I cannot recall when I fell back asleep, but this time, I was awoken by the aroma of food that my stomach could not deny any longer. My headache was gone at this point, but the thought of seeing Liam or someone alike last night immediately replaced it.

Despite everything, satisfying my hollow stomach was my priority at this moment and I finally gathered up the courage to get up from the cloud-like bed I was on, in search of the bathroom, which did not take long to discover as it was connected to the bedroom.
