Chapter 1- Knowhere

I was roaming the dirty streets of knowhere hoping to find some pockets to pick for some food, I haven't eaten anything in four days, it could be worse though. While walking I pass a bar that's always open and filled with people, a rodent of some sort walks out drunkenly with a giant tree, a man with some pretty rad tattoos, a Zen-Whoberis women? thought they were killed off! And a Xandarian, they're walking out following the drunk rodent and I look to see if maybe I can sneak some units out of there pockets, I walk behind them, hopefully not looking suspicious and observe each of them, figuring out who has stuff for me to grab, I see that the Xandarian dude, has a bulge in his back pocket shaped like units, bingo! I slowly reach out, using my ninja skills but before I even get close enough to grab anything a green hand grabs my wrist, 'Flarg!' I think, "what do you think your doing?" The lady asks causing the rest to turn and look towards me, I pull my wrist back and look up at them, the dude looks at the women, then me, giving me the look of a disappointed parent while crossing his arms, I look down in guilt, "I'm sorry...I'm just so hungry, i haven't eaten in days, I'm sorry" the dude softens his look while the others just watch, giving a look of pity, except the rodent, he's passed out and being carried by the tree now, the dude puts a hand on my shoulder making me look up at him, "hey! It's fine kiddo, just ask first next time, I would gladly spare a few units" I look at him in shock as he digs in his pockets and hands me a few units, enough to buy food and maybe even a drink! I start tearing up, no one has ever shown me this much kindness before, "Thank you so much sir!" I yell excitedly and hug him, he tenses up but slowly pats my back awkwardly, the women looks at him with such fondness in her eyes, wonder if they're a thing, I pull back from the not so hug and look at the units and start thinking of finally getting food in my belly, just the thought of it makes me drool! I get snapped out of my thoughts when the giant tree walks up to me and says "i am groot" and grows a flower out of his hand to give to me, I look at it, admiring it's beauty, hesitant to pluck it off, I look up at him for reinsurence and he just nods holding it closer to me to grab it, so I do, it's beautiful! There is not much plant life on Knowhere so this is rare to see, I remember he introduced himself, "Oh! Um.. my names (y/n)! Nice to meet you groot, thank you for the flower" I smile up at him and he returns it, I never knew there was still good out there...
