Chapter 15- Bonding Time (Rocket & Groot)

I lift the hatch to the control room and make my way down the ladder, I soon enter a short hallway with a door at the end of it, I release my grip from the ladder and jump down, my feet hit the floor making an echo through out the hallway, I start making my way towards the only door in the hall, the closer I get the louder Rockets shouts get, now in front of the door, it opens automatically for me and as soon as I walk in something is thrown at me but luckily I dodge in time, I look up and am greeted by distressed Groot and a frustrated Rocket, "Ugh! Where is it!?" Rocket growls, still oblivious to my presence, but is not unnoticed by Groot, "I am Groot" he smiles at me, Rocket turns around hearing Groots greeting and looks at me, as soon as he makes eye contact with me he groans, "Oh would you look who it is, little miss kill joy, what do you want?" He continues looking for whatever he needs, "thought maybe you needed help" I say, he responds still searching, "well I don't need it, I got Groot so just go on your way" I look to Groot who just shrugs, I shrug back, I look around the room noticing a lot of weapons and explosives, 'Of course' I think to myself, chuckling lightly, Rocket turns around, hearing my chuckle and looks at me and asks, "Why you still here?" I shrug, he looks annoyed by my silence and presence, "If your just gonna stand there, then leave" he says, pointing to the exit, "I am Groot" says Groot, defending me, Rocket replies, "I'm not being rude, she's distracting me" I decide to stand up for myself, "I'm sorry for making a bad impression on you, I came here to redeem myself...cause I wanna be friends...will you give me another chance?" I ask hopefully, Rocket looks at me confused, then looks to Groot, who just smiles and nods back to me, as if telling him to give me another chance, "I am Groot" Rocket groans, "Fine! But don't expect us to be BFF's or whatever kids call it now days and you can stay, just don't touch anything" I do a little fist pump, "I am Groot" says Groot, I turn to Rocket and ask, "What did he say?" He replies, "He said he's glad your here" I turn to Groot and smile, "Thank you Groot, me too!" He smiles back, I turn back to Rocket and watch him dig in his tool box, "What are you looking for?" I ask, He responds, "Tape, I need to mend those wires back together and the best way of doing that is by using tape" pointing at the GPS battery, I start searching for the tape, careful not to knock anything over not only in fear of an explosion but an angry Rocket, I get on the ground and look under a shelf and see something underneath it, I reach out and grab it, it's duct tape! I stand up and walk back over to Rocket, I tap him in the shoulder, he turns around and I show him the duct tape, he looks surprised and grabs it quickly from my grasp, "Where'd you find it?" He asks, "Underneath that shelf" I respond, pointing to the said shelf, he only nods, "I am Groot" Groot says in a warning tone, Rockets looks at him shock and asks, "You kidding me?" Groot shakes his head, "I am Groot" Rocket groans and turns to me, "Thanks...I guess" I smile at him and say, "No problem" he turns to Groot in anger, "there! You happy?!" Groot nods, "I am Groot" Rocket waves him off, muttering curses under his breath and goes over to the battery and starts to tinker, mending the wires back together, soon on green light on the battery starts glowing, indicating it worked, Rocket sighs in relief, "Finally! Now we hook it back up to the GPS and we can head off" Groot picks up the battery and we all start heading back up to the ladder, but before Rocket starts climbing, he says, "I guess I couldn't have done this without you so...thanks...I guess" and he starts going up, I smile, glad I have his trust, Groot smiles, happy both his friends are getting along, we get back up to the cockpit and place the battery back in, turning the GPS on, Gamora takes a seat in front of it, "still not sure where we are" she says, Peter leans over her shoulder to look, he grins and points at a meteor on the screen, "I know that place, that's Dex's Diner! Lets head there and get something to eat, we also might need some more fuel before we go anywhere else" Peter starts heading to his driving seat and sits down, everyones now in the cockpit ready to go, "To Dex's Diner we go! I've been craving some burgers" says Peter, Rocket replies, "Heck yeah! I want me an extra thick one" Groot nods in agreement, "I am Groot!"  Drax joins the conversation, "I would as well like a burger, extra rare!" Gamora rolls her eyes, "Men and their meat...but I guess I could go with a burger too" me and Xan laugh, Peter faces forward, ready to head off, "Everyone ready?" He asks everyone, everyone nods, he smirks and pulls the lever, hands tight on the wheel, "Lets go".
