Chapter 24- First Day Of School

"What?!" I yell in shock, "Hey, calm down kid, it'll only be for a little bit" Peter says attempting to reassure me, my heavy breathing doesn't faulter, Gamora hugs me from behind and says in a calming voice, "Hey, like he said it'll only be for a little bit, you'll be okay" Rocket then steps in, "You wanna be a Guardian kid?" He asks me, I nod quickly, "Then man up, we all have had to do something we didn't want to, but did we do it anyway?" I just shrug, he rolls his eyes and responds, "Yes! We did, so you can do it too!" I hesitate but nod, "Your right, I'm sorry, I'm going to do it" I say determined, Rocket nods in approval, "Well, then you better get some shut eye cause you got a big day tomorrow" Peter says.

 The Next day~

"Okay (Y/N), ready for your first day of school?" Peter asks standing next to me at the bus stop, it's just me, him and Gamora, the rest stayed at the Milano, still sleeping and I really don't blame them. "I guess..." I say, his face softens, "You'll be fine kid, remember it won't be long, its a one time thing" I nod. We see the school bus heading towards us, "Come on Gamora, it's embarrassing to be seen with your parents, especially when your in high school" he jokes, Gamora hugs me, "Have a good day" I return it, she pulls away and follows Peter, "Have a good day (Y/N)" he calls, I nod a take a deep breath to calm myself. The bus stops in front of me, opening it's doors, I walk in, smile at the bus driver and go find a seat. I feel everyone's eyes on me so I look down at my feet, I see a empty seat and sit down, I put on the headphones Peter lent me and start listening to Queen. I then feel a tap on my shoulder so I open my eyes and look over, it's Sam, 'perfect' I think, "Can I sit here?" He asks smiling at me, I move my backpack and nod, smiling as well, he takes a seat and says, "So I'm guessing your just now moving in, I knew you didn't look familiar" I nod, my eyes drifting to his bag, wondering if the helmet is in there, my eyes go back to him, "Well then, welcome to Carefree" he says, I laugh and respond, "Thank you" he nods and asks "So where you from?" I remember Peter telling me 'If anyone asks where you're from say St. Charles Missouri', so I respond with "Missouri" and we continue to talk until we reach out dreadful destination.

When we get to school I part ways with Sam and head to the office to get my schedule, I am greeted with a lady behind a desk, she looks up at me from her computer and smiles, "Hello, you must be our new student" she looks at a paper in front of her, "(Y/N) Quill?" I nod in response, she hands me my schedule, "Here is your schedule, if you need any help, don't hesitate to ask, good luck" I smile, "Thank you ma'am" and walk out. I look down at my schedule, my first period being algebra, while looking down at my paper I run into someone and I immediately apologize, "Freaking watch where your going brat!" The voice growls, I look up and see the guy, he's pretty buff and scary looking, he then looks at me and asks, "You new or something?" I nod, looking down, which seems to frustrate him, "Use your words brat!" He yells, shoving me lightly, before I respond I hear a voice, "Mr Moffet! Leave this poor lady alone" we both look over and see a bald man in a suit walking towards us, the buff guy backs off, "Sorry sir" he grumbles, the bald guy says, "Go to class Karl" Karl nods and leaves, giving me one last glare, I sigh in relief, "I'm sorry about Karl, he does this all the time, especially to new students" I reply, "It's not you fault, thank you for helping" he smiles, giving me his hand to shake, "I'm Principle Philbin, nice to meet you" I take it, "(Y/N) Quill, nice to meet you to sir" he smiles, "Let me see your schedule, I can help" I hand it over to him, he looks it over and says, "Down the B hall is your first class, the third door to the left" he points in the direction and hands me back my schedule, "Thank you sir" I say, he smiles, "No problem, have a great first day" and we both go our separate ways.

I stand in front of my rightful class room and take a deep breath, "You'll be fine (Y/N), lets just get this done and over with" I say to myself and open up the door, the teacher who was talking stops to look at me, students looking as well, making me shift under their gaze. The teacher smiles at me and says, "You must be (Y/N)! Welcome to Carefree high, I'm Mrs Schaefer" she holds out her hand, which I shake, "Thank you ma'am" she smiles then points at a empty desk next to a girl with black, purple hair, "Go sit next to Carrie, raise your hand please" the girl named Carrie complies, I walk over to the desk and sit down, I turn to Carrie, "Hi I'm (Y/N)" I introduce myself, She responds, "Carrie, but you already know that" I laugh slightly. The teacher then pulls our attention to her, "Okay, let's continue on Reflections shall we? Carrie, please let (Y/N) borrow your notes" Carrie nods and scoots her desk over towards me to share her notes with me. I look at all the writing, not understanding any of this mess, 'It's like a whole new language!' I think to myself, panicking.
