Chapter 9- Groot's Sacrifice

The Grandmaster claps his hands with glee, "Yes! We have a deal, give them the gray turd back" Topaz pushes Drax forward making him fall into us, Gamora catching him, the Grandmaster looks up at Groot in amazement and says "When I first saw you I felt something I've never felt before towards anyone, then seeing you fight...I knew you were the one, my champion!" We all cringe, Rocket says, "Hey! If your going to take my best friend at least don't make it weird!" The Grandmaster looks at us strangely, "Why are you still here!? Go go! We had our deal now shoo!" He shoos us away so we are now back on the platform that moves, before the door shuts the Grandmaster says, "Well I think it would be the right thing to thank you, but...NAH! Toodles!" Rocket yells, "Wait!" With sorrow all over his face, the Grandmaster rolls his eyes, "Oh what now?" Rocket walks up to Groot, and gives him a dragon plushie, "I want him to have his favorite toy to remember me bye" Groot looks at the toy and back at Rocket and says, "I am Groot" and hugs him, I start tearing up, the sweet moment was interupted by the Grandmaster, "Oh, boo hoo! you said your goodbyes, he has his toy or whatever, now go!" He once again shoos Rocket out the door and it slams in our face and we start moving backwards, I then turn to Rocket and ask in shock and confusion, "Your just going to let him take Groot!?" Everyone nods in agreement, confused by Rockets actions, he's so calm now, he laughs and pulls out a controller, "Not a chance".

Inside the Grandmasters castle~

Groot is walking side by side with a couple of guards, Topaz and the Grandmaster to his cell, they come to a halt, Groot assumes that it's his cell  "Welp! This is your new home, make your self comfortable!" The guards push Groot inside and push the button that closes the cell with a see through force field, the Grandmaster says, "We'll be back to take you to get your hai-....branches and leaves cut" Groot jumps at this in fear, "I AM GROOT!" The Grandmaster says in a calming voice, "No no don't worry, it may hurt, but you know what they say, beauty is pain! Now make yourself at home!" They all leave him alone, Groot looks down at the dragon plush, hoping Rockets plan works and is better than last time, next thing you know the dragon plush transforms into a rocket, Groot holds on tight with his branches and takes off through the roof making a giant hole, "I AM GROOOOOOOOOT!!!!".

Back to (Y/N) POV~

Rockets pushes the button and we hear Groot yelling, "I AM GROOOOOOOOT!!!" We look in the direction it's coming from, he shoots out of the castle on a dragon? "What the flarg" I say, Rocket uses the remote to control it, making it fly towards us, we all yell, jumping out of the way, Peter yells, "ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL US?!" Rocket laughs, "If I was, I would of done it sooner...and make it more brutal" Rocket lands the dragon rocket carefully, Groot lets go and struggles standing up, dizzy from the ride, "GROOT!" All of us yell, except Xan, we run up to Groot and hug him making him fall over, "We thought we lost you buddy" Peter says, Gamora has tears in her eyes and says "You had me worried half to death" Drax looks up at Groot with gratitude "Thank you for sacrificing yourself for me giant plant, glad you are back" Xan then says from the side lines "Im still kind of salty about you kidnapping me and almost suffacating me with your branches but...I'm glad your okay I guess" Groot smiles at Xan and uses his branch to bring Xan into the hug, I am Groot" Xan groans, "Really?" and finally me, "I was so scared, I thought we were just going to let them take you" I say, tears running down my face, Groot looks at all of us with such love and hugs us all closer, "I am groot" Rocket laughs, "You really think I'm going to let them take him? Ha! No way!" Groot hugs Rocket tighter, "I am Groot" Rocket groans, rolling his eyes, "I love you too..." I smile, 'Family'.

Back in The Grandmasters castle~

"Time for your branch cut my mighty champ-" the Grandmaster stops mid sentence noticing Groots absence and the mess he made, "Well that's just great!" He stomps his foot in frustration, "Topaz! Set up the big screen! Set off a reward to whoever finds him! Now!" Topaz nods, "Yes master".

Back to the Guardians~

While heading back to the Milano we hear a booming voice that sounds like the Grandmasters, we turn to the sound and see a giant screen showing the Grandmaster, he says "Salutations my people, my new champion has escaped, whoever finds him" a picture of Groot shows up on the screen, "Gets an award of 500,000,000 Units, good luck to you all!" Everyone near by looks at Groot, you can't really miss him, "Oh crap!" Peter yells, we start running back to the Milano, the people chasing after us, "This is just great! First we don't get paid! And now we're getting chased by a freaking mob of greedy Sakaarians!" Rocket yells, Xan replies to Rockets complaining, "This never would have happened if you guys didn't turn me in! You could have minded your own business but no! You just had to come for me" Rocket growls, "Well we wouldn't have come for you if it wasn't for this picky little kid" he says looking at me, Gamora then yells, "Oh would you stop! This isn't the time! Besides, she was just doing what she thought was right!" I'm a little hurt by Rockets comment but I care more about getting the flarg off this planet, I see the ship ahead "we're almost there!" I point to the Milano, we start picking up more speed, Peter gets his keys out of his pocket, almost dropping them in the process and pushes the button that opens the doors, we all run inside, the doors closing behind us, and the Sakaarians banging on the metal door, we all lay on the floor panting, Peter pants out, "We should probably get out of here" we all nod in agreement, "Yeah" we get up and climb the stairs to the cockpit, Peter, Gamora, Drax and Rocket all sit down in their rightful seats except Groot, Xan and me, there isn't enough seats sadly, so I just plop on the ground panting, Groot sits next to me and pulls me in his lap, I smile up at him, "Thanks Groot" he smiles back and replys, "I am Groot" Peter starts the Milano and we take off, we all cheer, but soon we stop when the ship shakes, Gamora looks at the screen that shows whats happening behind us, other ships chasing us, shooting repeatedly, causing the ship to shake more, "Um...Peter we have a problem" Gamora says, Peter groans, "Hold on guys".
