The next day...

~Finley~

I never knew silence was a dangerous thing. It was silence that showed everything but hid it. It was silence that preceded the most life-threatening storm.

But this silence is worse.

This silence was accompanied by the voice of Ansel Blacden blabbing on the TV about 'the Orange Pandemonium' that we witnessed without doing a thing. I don't know what we could have done... but it could have been anything.

Anything.

Anything besides standing behind the principal being the opposite of an officer.

A civilian.

I risk casting a glance at Chief Davis.

A very bad idea on my part.

Chief Davis is glaring straight at me breathing heavily and loudly. I avert my eyes to the floor feeling as if I just lit the wick of a bomb.

"As you can see," Ansel says, "Newbourne's College students have joined in the unexpected uprising against authority claiming to fully support the new, alleged gang U.N.O. Detective Ethan Sanders and an assisting officer are also at the scene, just recently giving a lecture on safety. All of this confusion had erupted when Principal Jane Munsinger added three new rules banning any association with U.N.O; including wearing orange."

I notice from hooded eyes that Chief Davis' lips have narrowed to a hard line.

"Hello." A boy turns around from the rioting student mass and looks annoyed at Ansel who poked his shoulder.

Glad to see that I am not the only one Ansel annoys.

"What do you think about the new rules put in place against U.N.O?"

"I think that they are absolute BLEEP," the boy states bluntly, grabbing Ansel's microphone and glaring at the camera. "How can you BLEEEEP BAN A COLOR?! THAT'S LIKE TELLING THE BLEEEEP GRASS IT CAN'T BE GREEN!!"

Ansel tries to take back his mike. "Thank you son-"

"It's plain BLEEP really."

"Yes yes I know son but-"

"Plain. BLEEP. And stop calling me son! What are you? My priest?!"
