Huffing, I stomped to my doorstep with the two bags of groceries I meant to buy. I remind myself that I have two hundred and fifty three bucks for Circe. She bought them for me since I am pretty much banned from MegaMart.
All because of that boy.
I am just about to close the door when his foot gets in the way. I slam repeatedly with my side at increasing force but his foot is protected by a very sturdy shoe.
"JUST GO AWAY TALON!!"
"I'M SORRY!"
"Sorry is not gonna get me admitted back at MegaMart."
"We can try. And if that doesn't work, we can drop in a few thousand-"
"I am not gonna bribe the staff!"
"Why not?!"
"I use the morals I was taught."
"Just let me in," he says frustratedly.
"No Talon." While my back presses against the door, I look about the living room looking for something that will bar it. The couch might keep him occupied for a few minutes. An hour if I'm lucky.
"I don't see why I am the only one at fault here," Talon rants on the other side, "It was not me who broke the manager's nuts!"
How dare he! "Have you forgotten who came up with the brilliant idea of playing hockey in the grocery aisle?!"
When he doesn't respond, I tisk. "Thought so."
"Fine." He begins his heartfelt speech. "I never should have forced you to play hockey with me. You warned me but I didn't listen. I knew you were sick but I still forced you to play for your groceries and took advantage of the fact that you never held a hockey stick in your life. And for that I am sorry. Extremely sorry. I hope that you can forgive me for my idiocy and we can go back to being... friends."
SQIAAAAAK!
"Seriously?!"
"Sorry Talon," I chuckle as I dust my hands. Hopefully, mom would not wake up to see the couch blocking the door. "I have a bath to take, noodles to eat, medicine to swallow and a bed to sleep in! No molestar gracias!"
I jog up the stairs as he groans.
***
After a quite variable bath, I descend down the stairs in comfortable home clothes wondering when my mother will ever wake up. If I recall correctly, she mentioned a big online exam today that finishes her course. I wonder if she studied? And even a bigger question, should I wake her up?
This is when I notice, the couch I had moved earlier was back in the living room; not by the door. Strange. For a second, I wonder if mom has already awaken but I quickly dismiss the idea when I see the real culprit in the kitchen.
"I can call the police for you, you know."
Talon looks up at me from behind the counter and smirks. "You wouldn't."
"And what makes you think that?"
"Because I am your friend."
I cross my hands over my chest and raise an eyebrow. "You seem pretty confident with that title after the series of antics you just pulled."
"Feisty, I already said-"
"Yeah yeah, forget it." I sit down on a kitchen stool opposite him. "Be grateful you have a sister. I wouldn't have forgiven you so readily if I didn't get my groceries."
