A soulmate mark usually appears on the morning of the child's tenth birthday. It was pretty nerve racking, since nobody knew how the mark would appear. Sometimes it was a picture that represented their soulmate, or sometimes it was a sentence their soulmate would say; marks were as diverse as the people who had them.

Kaminari Denki remembers vividly of the day he received his mark. The night before his tenth birthday, he was a nervous wreck. He'd think of all the things that could go wrong, from his mark going dull just as it appeared( which would mean his soulmate didn't accept him as his soulmate) or simply not getting a mark at all( which would mean he either didn't have a soulmate or they had died)! Both his mothers tried to calm him down, telling him that those kind of scenarios barely ever happened. It seemed to calm him for a while until it was time for him to go to bed.

"But I can't go to sleep!~" Kaminari had cried out, holding onto his Ma's hand with a pout. He'd usually act up whenever he was tired, so it wouldn't take long until he'd fall asleep.

"If you don't sleep, you won't have enough energy to go to school and show everyone your mark!" Ma said, holding onto her son's hands with both of her's. Kaminari pouted even more, grumbling some incoherent words under his breath. He knew his Ma was right, but somehow still didn't believe it.

"Denki, your Ma and I will still love you even if you don't have a soulmate," Denki's mum said from the doorway, a warm smile plastered on her face that was similar to Kaminari's usual smile. "Promise?"Kaminari asked, his expression worried. Mum walked into the room and up to Kaminari, ruffling his golden locks and saying, "Promise, now go to bed."

Kaminari turned his pout into a wide grin, nodding his head up and down with starry eyes. That night he dreamt about having a cool girlfriend who had pretty pink hair and a cool quirk like his and that they would become a pro hero duo and would help everyone and fight off the villains. Heck, he wouldn't mind if his soulmate bond was of a platonic type, he just wanted his other half. That's what a soulmate was. The other half of one's self. Platonically or romantically, a soulmate was the one to bring out the better in you and support you no matter what. They were the part of you you never had.

That morning, Kaminari woke up with a ticklish sensation on his nape. He didn't think much of it at first and simply continued on with his morning routine; bathroom, clothes, breakfast, and out. It was a routine that usually left him a couple of minutes to spare afterwards to spend time with his two moms.

"How did you sleep, kiddo?" Mum said from the kitchen, cooking some breakfast for the three of them. Kaminari shrugged, yawning a little. "Fine," he said nonchalantly, sitting down at the table beside his Ma. Ma looked over to him, a little worried. "Is something the matter, sweetie?" She asked, gently rubbing her son's forearm in comfort. Kaminari yawned again, stifling it with his hand. "Yeah."

Ma raised a brow, staring at him curiously before it dawned on her. She gasped and asked, "Oh sweetie, did you not get a mark?" Kaminari looked at his Ma strangely before remembering what day it was. "Oh I forgot to check!" Kaminari said, much more louder than he had wanted to be. Of course, his moms didn't care about his sudden raise of voice. It was a special day for him, and they most certainly wouldn't ruin it for him with a lecture.

"Oh, do have an idea where it might be?!" Ma squealed, seemingly more excited than Kaminari himself. Kaminari nodded and pointed to the back of his neck. "It tickled there when I woke up!" The boy explained before turning around. His Ma pulled up his hair so she and her wife could see what their son had gotten. The next few seconds were quiet before the two women erupted into fits of laughter. Kaminari was confused, turning around and looking at his two moms with a look of uncertainty. "What's wrong!?" Kaminari said, eyes starting to tear up.
