Behind The Veil
Hidden in the depths of the ocean under a dark veil like space of water lies a crystal palace, submerged in the icy waters. Where a tragically widowed Queen ruling with a frozen heart. Her daughters however had kind hearts and always reassured the servants when the queen would threaten to kill them. The beloved king had died years ago due to pirates whom he crossed. They have a cape of his silver scales to remind the mer kind they rule on the surface of the water. Due to the event our kingdom was sealed from the outside world, and to have us never leave. Except for once every five years to rejuvenate our health under the blue moon.
There was only one way to get outside the veil. It was a power only the royal family possessed, the WaterFire. A magic so great it could give and do anything with just a thought. It ran off of the mers feelings and desires. Seven water mages gifted this power amongst the mer kind for protection and as a gift for their kind once saving the sea god Poseidon. The mers lived in harmony with their powers until one day, a merman from the glacier seas was done with being ‘good’ and wanted the gods to pay for taking his young wife and daughter in a hurricane. Furious he sought to take revenge on man, mer people, and the gods themselves.
