Chapter Two

The attack on our kingdom had begun. Lava covered the walls and parts of the palace floor, blood swirled through the water, staining it red. The Queen lay dying, a spear through her heart and a boy with dark eyes behind her, sword in hand. Nico was struggling with a northern guard and Kyle started approaching Rouge with Coral grabbing a guard's sword and swimming silently behind Rouge. While this is happening Angel is trying to help the Queen from bleeding to death. Rouge in one quick move sliced the Queens head off, the sword going through arteries and bone like warm butter. “N-No…” Angel spoke as the blood of her mother stained her clothes. Kyle and Nico grip their swords and corner Rouge against the throne, “you little motherfucker!” Nico screams even though Rouge is almost 6’’ taller. Angel screams in anger and agony before crying.Coral grabs Angel into a tight hug and Rouge punches Nico. “W-we need to g-get out of here now…” Angel says through her tears. “Go get our bags i'll get the boys!” Coral whisper yells to the pinkette as she swims quickly to her brothers. Angel swims quickly to their bags and rushes outside the castle with them. She waits for Coral and her brothers outside. After what seemed like hours of waiting four mers exited the castle and swam towards Angel, whom recognized three of them as her siblings and the fourth as Rouge. “Why is he here?!” Angel says angry. Rouge glares, “She’s coming?!” He growls. Angel looks at Coral for an explanation.The female twin shifts awkwardly, “he knows what it’s like behind the veil and it uh.. Seemed like a good idea?” she shrugs. “You think all because he was outside the veil it’s a good idea?! He killed the Queen Coral! He’s a murderer!” Angel yells. Rouge scoffs and swims closer to Angel, “Shut up about that bitch. Me and Coral had it all planned out.” he growls in the small girl’s ear. “If you think about doing anything I wouldn’t hesitate to kill you.” Angel says back. Rouge shrugs and Nico pulls him away from Angel with an angry look, “stay away from Angel.” he mumbles and Rouge winks at him, “sure babe.” he counters, making Nico flush a dark red, “don’t call me that!” he shouts. “We should go. “Who knows what could happen if we stayed here any longer,” Kyle says. Coral nods and takes her bag from Angel before heading off to the tear in the veil. The others follow behind her. Kyle and Coral are the first to enter the small cave in the side of the underwater mountain, which widens into a huge cavern with a centerpiece of golden and green light, tearing into a portal like shape in the water. “It’s beautiful… How did you find this?” Angel asks. Kyle laughs, blushing slight “uhm, hide and seek with Coral and the other brothers..” he giggles, causing Coral to laugh and add, “he was missing for three hours!” Angel laughs. “At least it’s being used for a good cause.” Angel says adding, “Who’s going through it first?” “I will.” Rogue volunteers, “NO! What if it’s a trick!?” Coral shouts. “That is a good point. He could swim off and hide somewhere and we could never find him again.” Angel says. “Then i’m going first.” Nico shrugs. He lets go of Rouge and swims closer to the veil. After a few seconds he swims through,  the golden veil seems to swallow him and Coral and Angel follow him through, then Rouge, and finally Kyle.
