Chapter Six
“Kyle wake up dammit!” a tired Angel yells in her older brothers ear. Kyle startles awake, slamming his forehead against Angel’s. “Oww..” Angel cries out while holding her head. “Oh my god Angel i’m so sorry!” Kyle exclaims, hugging her tightly then his jaw drops, “you.. Are dry.. And have no.. tail..” he mumbles dumbfounded. Angel pulls away from the hug and looks at Kyle. “You don’t have one either….” Angel say. Kyle looks down quickly to find legs and a pair of pink swimming shorts where his tail once was. Angel stands up, a flowing yellow sundress covering her torso and half of her legs. Angel laughs lightly, “I never thought this would happen.” “Where is everyone else?” Kyle asks, standing up as well. Angel looks around. “I don’t know. We should go look for them.” the male mer.. Human, looks around and frowns, “which way?” “Well we came from the west so the wave broke upon impact on the beach, so it most likely means our siblings are on the east side of the beach.” Kyle stares at her, “uhm what?”, “we go east dummy” she sighs. The two humans start to walk to the east side of the beach. Kyle ran ahead and of course, trips on a sand dune, tumbling into it. Angel laughs at her brothers clumsiness, and jogs over to help him. “Stupid legs!” he yells at his lower body in mock anger. “It will take time Kyle. It’s like learning how to swim for the first time.” Angel says. Kyle sighs and looks over to find sets of footprints. He stumbles up, holding Angel’s hand for support, and starts to slowly follow to footprints dragging Angel behind him. “What are you doing Kyle?” Angel asks. “Following a trail. It might lead to our siblings.” Kyle says to her as he keeps following the trail.
