Chapter 19 | The accidental employer
"Oh gentlemen!" the man said.
He looked oddly familiar.
Surprisingly, it was the same man who was in the dungeon that night.
I slowly looked at Daisy trying to calm her down.
"I've been looking for you everywhere, I'm happy that you can enlighten me by your company" the man continued.
He could have been at his late fifties. His beard shaved and his clothes, well expensive looking.
Even Elle would be ashamed to admit that he was more gentleman like looking than me and Daisy.
"James and Thomas, right?" he asked as he held his hand out.
I hesitated for a while but decide to play along.
"Oh yes, nice to meet you, Sir" I shook his hand.
Daisy smiled and shook his hand as well.
"So, who's who?" the man laughed eyeing us.
"I'm James and this is my brother Thomas!" I said quickly before Daisy could have dragged us into any trouble.
"But your surnames are different" the man pointed out, his left hand gesturing to Daisy.
My hands started to sweat, apparently it was my reaction to the sudden nervousness.
"Well, Thomas here got married, right?" I looked at Daisy hoping that she will understand my plan.
"He really liked his wife's surname" I continued believing that I saved us from any trouble.
The man raised his eyebrows and looked at Daisy.
"Oh, congratulations then" he said and walked over to his desk.
Daisy muttered quiet thank you and lowered her head.
I couldn't help myself but felt a huge amount of hatred towards the person in front of me.
What if he was the one that killed Mr. Arthurian?
"So gentlemen, I have a situation you have to take care of" the man said and sat down.
I looked at Daisy not knowing what to say.
"Uhm, what is that, Sir" Daisy said facing that beast.
The man looked at the drawer, that we were invading few minutes ago.
I gulped while trying to insure myself that the lock is still in my pocket.
"There are these students that are trying to cause some major trouble" the man took out an old book.
Oh no.
He's not talking about us, right?
"Jesus, where did I put that lock?" he said for himself.
So he's not suspecting us.
Good.
"How do they look?" I asked "Sir" I added quickly.
I'll do anything to get alive out of here.
"They reported two women and one man in the meeting hall under the university" the man answered not looking at our faces.
Daisy looked at me with suspicion in her eyes.
After all, she knew about our previous adventures.
Elle was that kind and has informed her.
"Their faces" I started.
"I have to know their appearance" I explained my sudden interest.
