Chapter 6

Jenna

The next morning I walk into our open plan kitchen to find Cassie already showered and dressed for the day with a cup of coffee in her hands.

"Morning." she says brightly.

"Morning." I grumble.

I didn't sleep well so I need some coffee to properly wake me up before I'm able to deal with Cassidy's chipper ass.

She let's me drink my coffee in peace and once I feel slightly more energized I offer to make us breakfast.

"No thanks, I'm meeting Tyler for brunch at KC's." Cassie says with a wide smile.

"Wow seeing each other two days in a row" I tease.

"He is so sweet Jen and he's a great listener. Talking to him last night, I felt like we had know each other for years and not just a few days" She gushes.

I smile "That's great Cassie. Tyler really seems like a nice guy."

"I... I think... I know it's crazy but I think I could really fall for him, ya know. He isn't like any other guy I've been with." She bites her lip and gets a dreamy look in her eyes.

"It's too soon to know for sure but I saw the way you guys were looking at each other last night and I think he's different too." I say with sincerity.

Then I add "Like the fact that he actually looked at your face when he spoke instead of talking to your boobs like Rick the dick used to." I snicker.

"Bitch." she mutters then sticks her tongue out at me before going to her room.

I laugh and then turn to get some breakfast. I decide to have a bowl of cereal since I'm eating alone. I'm halfway through my cereal when Cassie comes back into the kitchen and points a finger at me accusingly.

"Oh you think you are so slick!" she shouts.

Thinking she's mad about her new ballet pumps that I "borrowed" last week and "forgot" to return I decide to play dumb.

"What are you talking about?" I ask through a mouth full of cereal.

"You thought if you brought up that asshole Rick I would just forget how weird you were acting around Nate last night!"

I almost choke on my cereal. I definitely didn't do that intentionally but I was hoping she would be too wrapped up with Tyler to worry about how I acted last night.

"I was not acting weird." I lie.

"Yeah right. Try lying to someone who hasn't known you since you were 7 years old." Cassie says rolling her eyes.

There's no use trying to lie to her again so I tell her about my search for the bathroom last night and how I stumbled upon Nate with that girl."And I just stood there staring at him like a weirdo Cass!"

"When Tyler introduced us I was mortified, I thought he was going to kick me out! Then he kept smiling that stupid sexy smile and winking and being flirty calling me kitten. It was crazy!" I rant.

"Oh my God...you like him!" she shouts, grinning like a loon.

"Of course not, I don't even know him." I protest.

She gives me *get real* look, crosses her arms and stares at me.

"I find him attractive okay!"I relent. "It's not like I've never been attracted to a guy before but he was different."

"Different how?"

"I don't know really... It was like his eyes held mine captive and he could see through me."

"You mean like he was trying to picture you naked?" she smirks.

"No! More like he could tell that I couldn't stop picturing him naked."

"I wonder if Tyler is even hotter naked." Cassie muses.

"I wanted to lick him like an ice cream cone Cassie!"

"Dayum! You're right he is different. I have never heard you talk about a guy like this before."

I lay my head on the counter top and groan.

Cassie gasp "I have a brilliant, beyond brilliant idea. I'll ask Tyler to get Nate to join us on a double date! It'll be amazing and..."

I cut her off before she can start planning a double wedding. "Cassie Nate didn't seem like the kind of guy that's familiar with the concept of abstinence. I'm sure he would think it's stupid too and you know that it's important to me."

"Well... that's true but that doesn't mean you can't have fun doing other things that don't require you to lose your V-card" she says wagging her eyebrows at me.

"Just forget about it Cassie. It's not like I'll ever have to see him again...Well at least not until yours and Tyler's wedding."

I leave Cassie to fantasize about that before heading to my room to lose myself in the happily ever after of the latest romance novel while trying to forget those gorgeous hazel eyes.
