Ch. 17) Drowning

A/N: on winter break finally had time to update. Maybe might put another up before going back to school.

"One mocha latte extra sugar extra cream for Jay," the barista calls sharply.

My head pops up as I look quickly away from the phone. Already on the verge of being more than thirty minutes late for my lecture I go for coffee quickly. Except my hand brushes against someone else as we both reach for the same thing.

"Oh!" We both say unison

"Gosh no," the man says, "-sorry, I thought this I was mine."

I look up to him surprised, his dark eyes look rattled and embarrassed, his deep brown skin glows beautifully as if he had the sun in the melanin of his skin, "No..." I start to say trying not the reveal how mesmerized I was by him, "No I thought the same so".

"Honestly I didn't hear what kind it was I just heard my name."

"Jay?" I cock my head curiously straining my neck as he was almost as tall Nick, missing by three inches top.

"Jason," he quickly correct then shoots his hand out to me, "Jason, nice to meet you."

"Jayla," I emphasize on the differences between our names.

He scratches the back of his head awkwardly, "Black coffee extra sugar?" He points to the cup the both of us aren't sure if we should claim as our own.

"Mocha latte, extra cream extra sugar." I stare into his deep set brown eyes with a sparkle in my own. His trimmed thick brows lower in dismayal and he nods rubbing his breaded face.

"Right," he grabs the cup and hands it to me, "All yours then I guess? Wasn't paying attention. How bout-" he digs in his pocket suddenly and pulls out a pen, "we fix that?" He scribbles on my coffee saying ym name low and full, "Jay-la. There. Fixed."

I raise curious brow and wait til he's done "It's..." I take the cup slowly from him then shrug flirtatiously, "no problem... Really."

"I guess," he then says to my surprise, "I least got to meet a pretty girl right?"

"Oh really?" I chuckle tucking a short curly strand behind my ear, "I could say the same actually," I stare heavily at him.

"You met a pretty girl too?" He ask, he long nose softens at the tip as I observe his feature. Coming rounded leading down to full thick lips, carefully surrounded by a dark groomed closely shaved beard. He looked young despite his manly features, in his stance and attire he gave off the vibe of being a college boy more than anything. Wearing a loose dark sweater, vans, and fairly tight jeans, he kept his hand stuffed into the two pockets at his front pants. His shoulder stood tense but his smile was sweet and charming oozing with vivacious youth.

He looked like the perfect heartbreaker.

Laughing softly I shake my head in response to his sneaky funny question, "No..." I say as if were obvious, "You know what I meant."

"Yeah yeah..." He then ask, "Are you a student here?"

"Yeah actually," then I check my phone for the time, "And I'm late for class too." I start to walk away as I speak but then I look at him long before saying, "Do you go here too?"

"Yeah, I do."

"So..." I shrug suggestively, "Maybe we'll see each other around sometime again?"

He nods then licks his lips before speaking lowly, "I really sure hope we do."

My smile is bright and I feel pleased by his response. With a reassured nod and suggestive smirk. I stare down at my coffee as I part ways and notice that not only my name is fixed but there's a number left on it. I'm surprised and tempted to turn around to see if Jason's still staring. But I decide to play it cool and keep forward heading for my one hour lecture. The time flies by quickly, and I shuffle through my usual activities, having to leave out catching up with Natasha and Mike for lunch since I had an essay due by the end of this week. One I hadn't so much as started or had done the research I'd needed to aquire for it. Having to weigh in the time for it, I was left having to chose between letting Nick get his timely feeding or meet up with friends I see all the time anyways.
