Have you ever held a heart in your hands?
I have.
I held a lambs heart once, held it in the middle of my palm and as I stared at it,
I realised that this vessel that’s in my hands was the centre, the entire being of an animal.
This heart has the ability to pump blood for an entire lifetime.
It has the ability to evoke feelings
Feelings may be hormonal but it’s the heart that breaks when things go wrong
I realised how our heartstrings are strong but tugged too forcefully, they snap.
Humans have the power to hold your heart in their hands, gently squeeze and watch you suffer
Humans are always in positions of power, we abuse the power as we fear what we can't understand.
I grew up learning and believing that monsters are imaginary
Yet, why do I feel that monsters are real?
Monsters are humans.
Because at the end of the day we have the ability to hurt others and have an impact on them like nothing else can,
That’s why life's so fucked up.
