i finished putting all the assortments of food on the table in the conference room. angela and the rest of the party planning committee helped me set up for the halloween party we had evry year at the office.

everyone dressed up for the occasion. angela in her usual cat costume, and andy in a wacky outfit that honestly makes no sense at times.

"who's ready to partay?" andy called, everyone piled into the conference room for the party.

"great party, y/n." pete, one of the customer service representatives that work here said, a cup of punch in his hand.

"thanks, but i shouldn't be taking all the credit or angela's cat claws will really come out." i replied, causing him to chuckle.

"what are you supposed to be dressed up as?" i asked.

"i'm clark kent." he said. it made sense, with his hair gelled back and a fancy suit with wide framed glasses.

"makes sense."

"what about you?" 

"i'm a lemon, duh? what did you think i was, a lime?" i gestured at my round yellow costume. for the full effect, i had a yellow cap with little green leaves on it.

"when life gives you lemons." he replied, referencing the infamous vine.

"shut up, miller." i grinned cheekily.

when pete came to work here, we immediately hit it off. i worked in accounting, and when i could, i would sneak towards the annex and talk to him for awhile.

he instantly became one of my best friends in the office, besides erin, who was the receptionist. she's told me multiple times that she thinks pete likes me, but i usually shrug it off.

he was very attractive, no doubt about it. 

"what? it's a great vine?" he snickered, nudging my arm playfully.

i laughed and glanced across the room to see erin staring at us, her eyes wide. pete didn't seem to notice, and she mouthed "told you so."

i shrugged it off, getting back into conversation with him.

"are you free after work by any chance?" he questioned.

"yeah, why?"

"i was just wondering if you wanted to go to poor richard's after this is over."

"that sounds great."

"awesome, then it's a date."
