song - friends by laundry day | put on repeat

i walked into the warm office, taking off my coat and hanging it on the coat rack. winter had begun, and scranton winters are very cold.

i sat behind the receptionist desk, checking if we had any missed calls from yesterday after work.

"gooooodddd morning dunder mifflin!" michael exclaims as he enters the workplace, snow melting on the bottom of his shoes, making wet footprints.

"good morning, michael." i reply as he places his elbows on the counter, leaning on my desk. "at least someone is happy to see me!" i slightly grin at his response.

"you have jo on the other line, by the way."

michael rolls his eyes. "tell her i'm not here."

"michael, she's already waiting for you i can't-"

"okay, fine. what can i say the ladies love me."

"i bet they do." i mumbled as he waltzed to his office.

i heard the door to the office open, but i didn't bother to look up from my computer. "good morning, y/n."

i looked up to see gabe with a smitten smile on my face. i bit my tongue. "hi, gabe."

"y-you know i had fun last night."

last night.

last night a few of us went out for a couple of drinks at poor richard's. gabe got pretty drunk and loosened up a little. i liked the fun side of him, anyways.

we hung out and practically talked the night away, and i ended up being his designated driver. i walked him to his front porch, where he unexpectedly kissed me.

i mean, it wasn't a bad kiss. i just see gabe as merely a friend, and i knew he was gonna bring it up the next day.

"oh, y-yeah." i sighed.

"how could i forget a kiss like-"

"gabe?"

"yeah, y/n?"

"we're just friends, okay?"

i saw his smile drop a little bit. i could tell he got nervous at my response.

"oh, oh yeah. no, totally. i was just saying you're good with your lips and-"

"gabe, it's okay." i looked down, hoping no one was listening to our conversation.

"we can discuss it later, no biggie."

"or not discuss it at all?" i grimaced.

"yeah, r-right. see you later."

"yeah." gabe finally left my desk and went to the back.

"well, that was a painful conversation." dwight spoke up, not looking away from his work.

"tell me about it."
