Malfoy, much to Alyssa, Millie, and Jess's amusement the next morning, couldn't believe his eyes wen he saw that Harry and Ron were still at Hogwarts the next day, looking awfully tired but perfectly cheerful. Indeed, by the next morning when Jess had seen the two heading out of Gryffindor Tower, it was obvious they thought that meeting the three-headed dog had been an excellent adventure, and were eager to have another. Once Jess had discussed this with Alyssa and Millie, the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff had agreed that they felt the same way.

Jess filled Alyssa and Millie in on her thoughts on the mysterious Gringotts item, and Alyssa had quickly agreed and explained her theory that that was what the dog was guarding. Needless to say, they spent a lot of time over the next few days discussing the multiple possibilities of what the object could possibly need such heavy protection.
"It's either really valuable, or really dangerous." Jess muttered as she moved the bacon on her plate around, not really in the mood for eating. "Or both." Alyssa shrugged. "And it's bound to be small if they transferred it from Gringotts without anyone noticing." Alyssa added as Millie shrugged.

"Yeah, but what could it be, like a fancy rock or jewel or something? Maybe a magical stone?" Millie asked, leaning forwards slightly to make sure no one could hear them. "Maybe. But what kind of stone would need that much protection?" Jess frowned and shrugged. All they knew for certain about the mysterious object for sure was that it was incredibly small, and that didn't give them much chance of guessing what it was without further clues.
Neither Neville nor Hermione showed the slightest interest in what lay underneath the dog and the trapdoor, and the bushy haired girl had distanced herself from the others so much that she refused to acknowledge their existence, which sucked when Jess shared a dorm with her. She was refusing to speak to Harry and Ron, but they obviously didn't care, because in their eyes she was a bossy know-it-all and saw it as a bonus.

Alyssa had developed a certain hate for the raven haired boy over the weeks, as in her opinion he was arrogant and rude. When Millie had questioned her about this, the Ravenclaw had replied with "he's such an arrogant toerag. He's constantly looking for trouble and thinks he's invincible because he's famous. If you ask me, he deserves anything he gets." Millie had frowned and shook her head whilst Jess just stayed silent with a knowing smirk on her face.

A week after the incident with the three headed dog, the post arrived that morning at breakfast, Alyssa, Millie, and Jess receiving the usual check up letters from their parents. The three had agreed not to mention sneaking around the castle at night and finding that three headed dog in fear that their parents would get overprotective and demand them on the next train home at once. Their attention was immediately snatched by a long, thin package carried by six large screech owls, heading in the direction of the Gryffindor table. Harry, who appeared just as interested as everyone else to see what was in the large parcel, was amazed when the owls soared down and landed in front of him.

Alyssa, Jess, and Millie, who were sat next to them, leaned over as the owls neared to see what was happening. Alyssa let out a cry as her pancake was knocked to the floor and her eyes went wide, her bottom lip being pulled between her teeth as her eyebrows furrowed. "What, my pancake!" She whimpered, mourning the loss of her food. Millie giggled as Jess handed Alyssa another one.

Harry, who clearly had difficulty hiding his glee, handed Ron a folded up note to read. "A Nimbus 2000! I've never even touched one!" Alyssa's eyebrows shot up as she turned to Jess, who was gaping at the two and resembling a fish. "A Nimbus 2000? How the hell did he get one of those?" Millie asked, watching as the two boys rose to their feet and sprinted out of the hall, broomstick in hand. "Aren't they supposed to be really good?" Jess asked Alyssa, who scoffed in answer. "They're supposed to be the best broomstick there is. How he got one, I can't be sure." The Ravenclaw rolled her eyes and picked up her bag and headed out of the hall.
