((KENZIE'S POINT OF VIEW))
I Expected to be happy, after spending two days in bed watching telly, eat what I could hold down, but I just felt so lonely, I've had Amy for over a year and the boys for 12 weeks and going from having company all the time to none was a horrible feeling. I put my house coat and went downstairs. I froze when I got to the end of the stairs and the alarm wasn't on. I know I put it on last night from the bedroom. Hearing noise in the kitchen my heart was in my mouth, I quietly walked to the house phone when the kitchen door opened, I froze in my tracks.
''Kenzie.'' I turned to Dylan and sagged in relief leaning my hands on the table.
''Are you ok?'' he asked walking over to me I hummed my hand on my chest, my heart was pounding.
''You frightening me.'' he frowned.
''Sorry.'' once I caught my breath I stood up.
''Why are you here?'' he slipped his hands into his pockets that's why I saw the bruise on his eye and busted lip.
''Well I don't' have work today so I thought I'd go...shopping.''
''You done grocery shopping?'' I asked my eyes widen.
''Well I tried something is missing I can't put my finger on it.'' I walked into the kitchen and looked around I looked in the cupboards and fridge.
''I'm impressive, how did you find it?''
''It was ok.... If I had a list it would have been better, I had to ask for help about 3 times when it came to wipes and nappy's.'' I chuckled and nodded.
''You got the right ones, did you get formula?''
''Yeah but I got 3-6 months since they are 12 weeks today.'' I nodded and he took it out of the cupboard.
''Yeah that's the one, everything looks like it's here.''
''Nah there is something missing.'' I leaned against the counter and bit my lip
''Amy's school bars.'' I said he cursed.
''The wholegrain ones, I'll go get some.''
''No it's ok I've got two boxes in the pantry.''
''I can just go grab another 2.''
''No it's fine honestly.... You done a good job.'' he nodded.
''Well I better go leave you too it, I put money on the gas and electricity and there's more movies on demand.'' he picked his keys up, he winked before walking out.
''Who done that to your face?'' I asked following him, he paused at the door and licked his lips.
''Don't lie to me.'' I said in a tired voice.
''Your dad.'' I nodded.
''He's more pissed at me because I didn't tell him what was going on?''
''It's not your fault, this mess is because of me Kenzie, and I'm going to fix it.'' I smiled.
''How you going to do that?'' I asked.
''By quitting my job.'' I frowned.
''But you love that job.'' he shrugged.
''I love my family more.'' I felt my eyes watering and looked away.
''Can I come by when the kids are back, so I can see them.'' I was quiet for a minute.
''Please Kenzie I need to see them.'' I nodded.
''They'll be back Saturday morning you can come over that evening if you want, Amy and I rent movies and eat lots of junk food you can join us.'' his lips tugged.
''I can't wait, I'll see you then.'' he kissed my cheek and left.
I looked around the house and sighed, I was well rested but bored as hell. I shook my head and went upstairs and put on a tracksuit and runners, locked the house and drove to my parents.
''Where's my kids?'' I asked walking into the house past my dad.
''Mom.'' Amy ran to me I smile and caught her twirling her around.
''Hey baby.'' I mumbled squeezing her tight.
''I missed you'' I smiled.
''I missed you too, where's your brothers?''
''In the kitchen.'' I put her down and we walked into the kitchen.
''Well, well, well, hello there my handsome little men.'' they kicked they feet's squealing in excitement. I chuckled and kissed all over their faces.
''Give mommy a hug.'' I said picking both of them up blowing into their neck making them spaz out and gurgle I smiled sitting down kissing their head, they nuzzled their heads into my neck I smiled.
''How where they?'' my mom asked.
''A joy, I have to say they are so laid back, they don't get jealous over each other, they just don't like being apart, they've a really strong bond already.'' I smiled kissing their heads again and Amy came in I smiled at her.
''Have you been good for grandma and grandpa.'' she nodded and sat on my dad's lap.
''How are you feeling?''
''I slept for two days, spent it in bed watching telly, just sunk into my pillows.'' my mom smiled.
''You need me to go shopping for you?'' I licked my lips.
''Dylan actually done that this morning.''
''He was in the house?'' my dad asked his jaw clenched.
''I didn't know, I came down and he was putting the stuff away.''
''He shouldn't be in that house.''
''It's his house as well dad.''
''I gave him his cut of the house back I told him not to go a near that house or I'd break his legs.'' Amy's eyes watered and she ran out of the room.
''Nice going dad, why the fuck do you think I didn't tell use shit, because use all stick your damn nose into it.'' I walked out finding Amy in my old bedroom crying, I laid the boys on the bed.
''Hey baby listen to me I won't let them do anything to your daddy, grandpa is just mad just like your daddy would be mad if a boy made you said.'' I said softly she sniffled.
''Did daddy make you sad?'' I paused for a minute, I didn't want her to know but I didn't want her to think they'd hurt her dad.
''Yeah baby he made me sad.'' she looked down at the twins and held Parker's hand.
''Listen to me Amy.'' she turned to me.
''Life is hard honey, there's going to be tough times but we'll get through it, just like in the future you meet a man you love and you'll fight with him but you'll still love him.''
''Do you still love dad?'' I tucked her hair behind her ear and rubbed her earlobe.
''Yeah baby I do and I'm always going to love him.'' she nodded I kissed her head and laid on the bed on the other side of the boys.
''You should go home mom.'' I raised my eyebrows she giggled
''And get more sleep, we're ok here I'm watching them as well.''
''You don't need to grow up so fast baby, you just be you ok, they're my responsibility, just like you are.'' she nodded I kissed her.
''You're going to stay at Uncle Josh's tonight with Nevy so be good ok and I'll see you Saturday your daddy will be over that evening.'' she smiled and nodded I kissed her head.
''I have some clothes for them and their night, night blankets.'' my mom nodded.
''I love having them with me, so don't worry about them.'' I put them in the pram kissing all over there tiny faces making them laugh
I can't believe how wise they are for 12 weeks those 12 weeks, it was hard but they've gone by so fast, before I know it I'll be sending them off to kindergarten.
