Btw Dagur is his Defenders of Berk design, not RttE even though the plot is slightly similar. The episodes with the Skrill in Defenders of Berk (not giving any spoilers, in case you haven't watched them) happened at the same time as the canon. (if that makes sense, my brain is pretty addled right now) But the ending of the first two TV shows is cut off and the episodes known as "Heather Report 1&2" have been bumped to the back. So, the ending is yet to come...

This chapter takes place about at the same time as chapter Ambush. (9) And what the 3,000 words?!

And the thunder is booming like a hammer and anvil, the lightning flashing like the fire of a Skrill. Great, aside from the fact that one of the power lines was sparking and smoking.

                                                    Dagur

He grunted with distaste. Dagur sat in the shadows so anyone who passed by his cell would only be able to see his green eyes reflected in the firelight. He scowled at the bars of his prison cell. Living imprisoned on Outcast island without snapping and trying to kill someone in the cell next to you was one of his problems, especially because that someone happened to be the most annoying prisoner in the ENTIRE ARCHIPELAGO.

Actually, he reflected, everyone on this stupid mound of stone and dirt is annoying. He vowed every day to find a way to escape. A few months ago, just after Hiccup and his pet Night Fury defeated him and his harnessed Skrill, the Outcasts had raided the Berserker and several other islands, displacing and killing or taking prisoner those that were unlucky enough to get caught.

Dagur was outraged that he had been one of those captured, he was training in the woods with a small band of his fellow Berserker warriors, preparing to strike Berk when the Outcasts attacked. Many years ago his mother and father disappeared from the Berserker island, abandoning the throne. Then he had taken it, ruling over the Berserker tribe. He never knew where they went, but he was sure that sometime soon he would see them again. And do what? he wondered.

He was less obedient now, if they accepted him as chief he would probably let them live. If not... he decided not to linger on the possibilities. Now he was just waiting for breakfast to come, presumably moldy bread or over aged fish. Now he was just thinking while the wait.

His thoughts on family dragged his mind back to the thing that constantly had him pondering.

It wasn't just him in his family.

He had a sister. Dagur forgot her name, but knew she was perfectly real.

He knew he looked nothing like his sister. He had fiery orange spiky hair, whereas his sister's was soft and midnight black. Dagur was bulky. His sister always was thin even when she was a baby. The only thing they had in common were their leaf green eyes and Berserker blood.

Dagur abruptly lifted his head as droplets of water pattered against the uneven rough ground of the Outcast prison, jolting him out of his thoughts. There was a slithering sound and something small thumped down on the ground as one of the Outcast guards seized a wooden bucket.

"Mealtime, maggots," the guard grouched as he reached into the bucket and began tossing stale food through the bars of the prison cages.

"Ooh, ooh, ooh!" Dagur's annoyance hooted as he impatiently reached for his food. The guard paused for a moment by Dagur's cell and then tossed a pouch that was shaped like a loaf of bread into it. Dagur perked up and slid out of the darkness as the object bounced against the floor with a hollow thump. The imprisoned Outcast in the cell across from Dagur seized his food and took a bite, then noticing the hollow object by Dagur.
