I carried Noroshi on my back to the house, he had fallen asleep from stress and crying. As I walked in, Itashi looked at me and tilted his head, "I'll explain in a minute" I said in a low voice, he nodded. I took him to my room upstairs and set him in the bed.
"Rest easy Noroshi" I said as I left the room and went down stairs. Itashi looked at me with concern, "Alright Midnight, what's going on, you look like you just went through hell" I sat down across from him and put my mask on the table, "Where is Yamada, you both need to hear this" Yamada came around the corner as I said this, "Hear what" she sat next to me. I sighed and explained to them what had happened with Kigari and why Noroshi is staying with us.
"If I had acted sooner, he wouldn't have had to go through that" I buried my face in my hands, "Midnight you can't take the blame for that, you didn't kill him, be glad you came when you did otherwise that might have been both of them" Yamada said as she rubbed my back. I leaned over and hugged her, "Thank you Yamada, but he will be staying with us, I have a promise to hold" she smiled and sat back, "I only have one question, where are you going to sleep" Itashi asked, "I can sleep down here in a sleeping bag, I don't mind it" Itashi nodded to my response. I got up and walked out onto the balcony. Yamada came put as she closed the door behind us, "Midnight, you gonna be okay" she stood next to me, "Honestly, I'm not but I can't let it get to me, I have to survive, we all do" I sighed and leaned against the railing, "We are in this together, you don't have to be alone in your sorrow, I'll be in my room if you need to talk" she patted my shoulder and went back inside. My thoughts flooded my mind, feeling the darkness of this world grasp me, "Is there any hope for us at all, or are we all destined to die in this sick game" I shuddered and shook my head, "No don't think like that, you can't lose faith yet Fugiyama" gathering myself I walked back inside and went upstairs.
"S-sir" I heard a shy voice from my room, I turned to see who it was, it was Noroshi, "Good evening Noroshi, how are you holding up" he sighed and looked down, "I miss my big brother" I walked closer and put my hand on his head, "He misses you too, but try not dwell on it, if you are hungry there is some food downstairs" he nodded and went downstairs. I walked up to Yamada's door and knocked on it, "Come in" she replied, I walked in and closed the door behind me.
"Hey Yamada, I think I'll take you up on that offer" she smiled and sat up on her bed, patting the spot next to her, I sat by here.
"So what's on your mind Midnight" she moved a bit closer to me, "I just want to make it out of here alive, and I want to see you guys make it with me, my life isn't the only one I have to protect" she smiled, "You've done a good job at protecting us, but we will protect you as well, we are family, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you" she leaned closer and kissed my cheek, I blushed and looked at her, "I like you Midnight, keep being yourself, and by the way, you don't have to stay down stairs you can stay in my room with me" she smiled and hugged my arm, "T-thank you Yamada" I laid my head against hers.
"Midnight, what's your real name" she let go of my arm and stood up, began to unequip her armor, and slipped into a t-shirt, "My name is Fugiyama Takurai" I unequipped my armor and put a pair of shorts and a t-shirt on, "Well Fugiyama, my name is Sana Himari" I laid onto the bed and relaxed. Yamada smiled as she climbed into bed next to me, wrapping her arms and legs around my body. I could feel her heart beating, she was warm and smelt like cherry blossoms. At first I was nervous but having her close to me like this, calmed me and put my mind at ease. I turned my head and looked into her eyes, they were a soft green with a bit of gray, I moved my hand to her cheek then brushed her light blue hair behind her ear. She smiled and put her nose against mine, "Goodnight Fugiyama" she moved closer and we kissed, "Goodnight Sana" I turned, wrapped my arms around her, and closed my eyes. 'Maybe there is some good left in this world to cherish.' I thought to myself as I fell asleep.
