"We need the kids on set," Jonathan, the creative director said, "Jenna, can we get you over here?" We were four hours into the music video for A Life That's Good and filming was taking place at a park near the water. Hunter arrived with the kids, all wearing big smiles. The vision of the video was exactly what the song meant to me and since we were working with the kids, we had a limited amount of time to get their shots just right.
"Let's get the kids playing in the park," I said to Hunter, "then we're gonna be over here." I pointed to a big Oak tree with a picnic blanket and my acoustic guitar.
"Awesome." Hunter got the kids over by the play set and the director tested the angles and we took a few shots in different perspectives.
"That's a wrap on this set, let's go to the bridge." We wrapped up at the park and we filmed a segment on the pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland that captured the Nashville skyline. Once that scene wrapped, the all day video shoot came to an end. "Congrats Jenna - that's a wrap!" We took the kids out for dinner before heading home.
"Mommy being in the video was fun," Beckett said, letting out a big yawn, "is it going to be on tv?"
"Yeah it will. I'm glad you all were a part of it. That means so much to me." I smiled looking back in the car as Easton was asleep and Beckett was yawning, fighting the urge to close his eyes. We pulled into the drive way and Hunter carries Beckett in while I woke Easton, "Hey bud we are home." After a little fussing I gave in and carried Easton up to the house and into bed. "He's wiped," I said to Hunter as I worked to get Easton out of his clothes and into his pyjamas, "thank goodness we have nothing going on tomorrow. Lazy day." Hunter smiled as we exited Easton's room and checked in Beckett and Sutton, both were fast asleep.
"I'm glad you and the kids were able to be a part of today." I said quietly as a massaged Hunter's shoulders, "How are things, you've been working like a mad man."
"Just trying to get that album out, all the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place." He sighed, "you're still the queen of massages. Who's going to get all my knots out while you're on tour?"
I smiled, "Don't worry, if things line up we might get to spend some time together on the road... don't you think?" I maneuvered to sit beside him to divulge in the topic further. The tour was May through July minus a few interruptions surrounding CMT awards and CMA fest.
"Well, there will definitely be some overlap and there is likely going to be some time apart," he searched my eyes, "I am so, so close to getting this album done and it's only a matter of time before a tour and the whole nine yards." I nodded, "Your schedule is crazy the first two weeks you're out, but for the month of August I think it would be safe to say you will definitely have the kids."
"They finish school on like, the fifteenth of June, before that I'm around for CMA, but can we try and spend those last few weeks of my tour together as a family?"
Hunter opened his arms for a hug, "We will make it work."
"I wouldn't be opposed to doing another duo tour thing. That was so much fun."
"Definitely something we can look into. We have a lot of songs between us. We have a lot to share." He kissed my temple and put one last squeeze in his hug before we turned out the lights.
