Jadira's little cries ran through my head over and over again. "What is it, Jadira?" I asked as I offered her candy.
"I-I wanna see my daddy~" she wailed loudly. "Mommy~ I wanna see daddy!" I frowned at the mention. Jadira's dad was a close friend of mine. So when I heard that he was one of the first to be murdered, it really tore me apart.
Fang Shiu, was a fine man. He was tall, strong, generous and a bit flirtatious. He was a good man and we knew each other since we were ten. As soon as he hit sixteen, he married the love of his life and had a kid; Jadira. But rumors went around saying that Jadira wasn't his.
That Jadira was the child of the mother and a man she had hooked up with. That was why Jadira had none characteristics with her dad and few of her mom.
Later on, Jadira's mother left the clan for another man. It broke Fang's heart. And since I was the only female that would visit Jadira, she mistook me as her mother.
The unfortunate thing is, people of the clan despised Jadira. Even Fang. He hated Jadira and wished she was never born. The only person that loved Jadira was the village's head elders. Jadira's great-grandparents. They treated her as their own.
Of course they hated her mother but they believed that Jadira would be different.
I smiled at the little girl, "Jadira, your dad is very busy right now. He can't be bothered right now. Be a good girl and wait, okay?"
She pouted and nodded, "okay~"
I wiped her tears and offered her the candy again. To which she took this time. I carried Jadira close to my chest and saw a town. Was it the capital? No..
This isn't it, this is Awa..
I must really have a bad sense of direction. I scratched my neck in disappointment. "Well I could at least restock," I muttered to myself. I tied Jadira next to my chest with a long piece of cloth and placed my hood over my head before heading down.
As we arrived, I noticed something was off. The people of Awa seemed so...lifeless. I subconsciously clutched Jadira closer to my chest. Something is definitely off.
"Ohoho," A deep voice chuckled. "What's a lovely lady like you doing here?" A man had roughly grabbed my wrist. I looked at him, he was medium build, tanned and had facial hair and acne scars all over his face and body. I cringed at the sight. He seemed to be in his mid-twenties.
He noticed Jadira tied to me. "Whoa! Look at this! This bitch has a child with her. What a slut." I bit my lip when I heard that. But then he smirked mischievously. "But at least that means that she has experience."
The man licked his lips and grabbed my other arm, trying to force himself on me. "Stop it!"
I'm really losing my patience now. The man was persistent, his grip tightened harshly and I was pretty sure that he had left a mark. Jadira was awake now and she was terrified. I sighed to myself as I looked at him with a glare in my eyes.
"Oh? What's this?" He smirked, "You trying to be intimidating. Sorry hun, you're a hundred years too late to be—"
Suddenly, I raised leg and kicked him in his lower region. What I didn't expect was for someone else to have injured his face as well. The man went flying, blood dripping from his nose and mouth.
"Oh," Another man's voice was heard. "I did not expect that." I looked to my right to see a tall man with silky, long green hair. His droopy purple eyes really stood out and I could feel like I knew him from somewhere. Our eyes met.
It's him.
What?
Nawu, it's the green dragon. Ryokuryuu's descendant is standing in front of you.
I quickly realized and grabbed his hand. I dragged him to an alley because I didn't want a scene. I panted heavily as I looked at Jadira. She was asleep now. I cocked my head back to the green dragon and noticed the streams dripping from his eyes.
"Eh? What's happening? W-Why am I crying??" He asked in confusion.
[ Ryokuryuu ]
I was so confused. What in the world just happen and why am I crying. I tried hiding my face from the girl. This is so shameful. To cry in front of a woman is the least manliest thing you could do.
She probably thinks that I'm a loser. Aw great. The tears kept coming down, and now a series of hiccups followed. I crouched down to try and hide it but she just stood there, staring at me.
Ugh. This makes me feel like shit.
I suddenly felt a chill crawl up my spine. My body started to get cold. My teeth chattered, I started trembling but my tears wouldn't stop flowing. Why am I so pathetic right now.
I noticed the girl kneeled down. Great.
My dear Ryokuryuu...
What? Who's that?
You poor, poor thing. You thought that it would be a good idea to chain down the green dragon's legs? What a foolish thing to do.
Momoiryuu? Is that..you? I haven't seen you for thousands of years! I thought you hated us. Why? Why did you leave without saying anything?
Who are these people? Why do I hear them in my head.
It's alright to cry, little Ryokuryuu. It's always good to let it all out. Bottling up emotions is unhealthy.
The lady with the pink hair had suddenly embraced me. At that moment, I suddenly felt the world brightening. My tears dried, the warmth that I desired returned to me and I felt better than ever. The first time I felt so refreshed and loved ever since I was born.
"It's alright, everything will be fine."
I looked at the girl through my bangs. "Just who exactly are you?"
She simply smiled and swept my hair away, helping me stand up. I noticed our height difference. Her pearly whites showed, "It'll be alright now, because I'm here."
"I'm Nawu, your savior."
My eyes widened and I could feel the tears coming back.
"What about you," she asked in a sweet voice.
I couldn't help but smile, "Jae-ha."
