"Would you like to go to dinner?" Tommy asked.

The woman answered with watery glass eyes, "I'd love to!"

And so Tommy had a date. He escorted Tara into the hallway, around the corner of a streamlined kitchen with polished chrome, into a reception with glass for doorways and wooden staves for flooring. When they shook hands, Tara held on.

"Thank you for the opportunity." She said.

Tommy felt he could have kissed her.

The other women erected themselves when he returned, as if working for his attention.

Eve was the next interview. Hair coiffed, dress fit with all the right curves, in such a way to make her look like a maxim model. She sat across from Tommy in his office. On the poofy red velvet chair. Eve was at full attention—to the point Tommy felt his own attention span follow. No gauzy focus that heard what she said, but didn't comprehend or react to her. Eve had all the necessary skills, she didn't steal anything from online example resumes. That made her professional.

Although she probably wouldn't sleep around or go out to dinner with him. Maybe dinner outside of a professional setting. There wasn't a fake profile using her picture on the dating site.

When he looked at her skills and heard her talk, Tommy had to admit, "You have one of the most impressive resumes out of everyone here. I wonder why you're applying for this role." The position was similar to a facility manager, while acting more as a secretary for Tommy.

Eve thought for a moment. Down and away. Before bringing her eyes back to his. And she laughed: "To be honest I need a job."

Tommy laughed with her, thinking: She won't stay long.

He saved her resume, making a note at the bottom. If this new role was going to be something serious, Eve was the front runner. He walked her to the hall, said goodbye near reception. He shook her hand and opened the door for her. Then he walked back to the hallway full of beautiful women adjusting themselves.

Such a strange feeling.

So unlike what he felt years ago. Whenever Tommy wanted to remember where he was, a few years ago, he just had to look back at the recruit, and it was in his eyes.
