2. God's Child

I am God's Child

"But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God."
‭‭John‬ ‭1:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

If you haven't already believed and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, keep reading this chapter! If you have, move onto chapter 3.

1. God made the world and everything in it, including you! He loves you and so wants a relationship with you.

2. There's just one problem, God is holy, perfect and pure and no matter how hard we try, we are not!

"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard."
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

3. There is good news:

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God's Son Jesus, died in our place so we could have a relationship with God and be with Him forever. This is a free gift!

"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  Romans 5:8

But it didn't end with His death on the cross. He rose again and still lives!

"Christ died for our sins. ... He was buried. ... He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures." 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Jesus is the only way to God.

Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one can come to the Father except through Me." John 14:6

4.  There's nothing we can do to be saved by our own merits, it's a special gift from God that we receive when we put our faith in Jesus.

So all you need to do is:

* admit you have sinned or done things you shouldn't have
* believe that Jesus died for your sins
* ask for His forgiveness
* turn away from your sins
* trust Him as your Lord

You can say this simple prayer:

"Dear God,
I know I have spent my life ignoring you and doing my own thing. I have done so many wrong things and I'm sorry. Please forgive me.
Thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to die for my sins. Thank You that He rose from the dead to give me new life.  I want to trust Him as my Saviour and follow Him as Lord,
from this day forward.
Amen."

Be assured that God has heard your prayer and know that even if you don't feel any different right now, you have become a Christian! You are God's child! That is so good! All of Heaven is rejoicing over your decision.
