"Alright!" I yell with excitement. "Let the games begin, kitty~" I say teasingly.
Kuroo smirks devilishly at me, and hums. "Bring it on, m'lady~"
The first game we decided to play was a basketball game. We get three small basketballs, and we need to throw them into one of three little hoops as many times as we can in three minutes. Each time we get the ball in a hoop, we get two points.
"I'll go first~" I say sweetly. I put the money into the machine, and the timer starts.
Ooh, I'm really bad at basketball. What do I do!? I wanna win!! Should I just...throw them really fast and hope they go in?? ...yeah, whatever. Sounds like a good plan to me, lol.
I grab the first basketball and throw it toward the hoop on the far left. Swoosh! I get two points. "Hey, I got it!" I yelled happily.
"Yeah," Kuroo says, grinning at me. "Let's see if you can keep that up, though."
Time left: 1:30. My points: 8. Kuroo: mocking me. Me: impatient and competitive.
Ya know, I was totally doing good until I said it out loud. I completely jinxed myself.
My three minutes ended, and I only had 18 points. That's not too bad for me, but I know I've lost this game.
Kuroo begins to laugh, and I shoot daggers at him with my angry glare. "I mean, good effort, kid." Kuroo says in between laughs. "My turn now~"
Ugh, I swear I'll beat this jerk at the next game!! I shall not lose!!!
Kuroo starts his game and, within seconds, already has 12 points. I stare in complete awe, and envy, as I watch the tall boy utterly wipe the floor with me.
Soon after, his three minutes official come to a close, ending with a total of 57 points. "I thought I should hold myself back a little~", Kuroo purrs.
"You call that holding yourself back?" I laugh. "Anyway, which game should we play next?" I ask innocently.
Kuroo and I walk over to the Skee Ball machine. "How about this one?" He says while patting the side of the machine.
"Isn't that the same thing as the basketball game we just played?" I say as my energy begins to deplete.
He laughs cutely, and explains, "No, not at all! It's completely different!! With basketball, you throw the ball upwards, with Skee Ball, you kind of roll the ball up the ramp. Throw it underhand!!"
With his detailed explanation, I stare blankly at the new threat—I mean, machine—knowing I'm about to lose yet another game.
Kuroo begins to put money in the machine, and says "I'll go first this time, just to show you how it works~"
His cockiness pisses me off, but I can't help thinking it makes him that much more...interesting.
After Kuroo and I both completed our turns for Skee Ball, the results are...to be expected.
"You're not very good at these games, huh?" Kuroo asks devilishly.
I give him a pouty face and say, "well, these kinds of games just aren't my strong points! I'll show you! I swear!!"
He laughs at me and puts his hand on my head, then he messes my hair up. "Yeah, I can't wait to see what you can do, kid~"
•••
Throughout the rest of the day, Kuroo and I compete against each other with every single game we play. Although, the only thing I won at was a Dance Stage game, which happened to be the last game we played.
The two of us walk out of the arcade giggling in between breaths. "How come you're so good at dancing?" Kuroo asks (feeling defeated, I'm sure).
"Well, I like Kpop!" I say excitedly. "Sometimes, I pretend I'm good at dancing and I try to copy my favorite group's dances!"
Kuroo chuckles and asks, "what's your favorite group, then?"
My eyes start to glow hearing the new question. "I really like this one boy group!! Their name is Infinite! They have the best songs and dances!!" At this point, I'm practically yelling in excitement.
As I continue talking about my favorite group, I notice Kuroo staring at me with such gentle eyes. I try to ignore it so I don't make myself too nervous, and say, "uhm...it's getting pretty late, huh?"
He smiles lightly, and replies. "Yeah, let's get going. I'll walk you home." He puts his hand on my shoulder, softly pulling me close to him, and we start walking home like that.
About 10 minutes into our journey home, a long breeze takes up all of my warmth. Kuroo notices I'm shivering, so he takes his jacket off and places it around me.
"Oh, you don't need to–" I start to protest, but he shuts me up really quickly by pulling me into and tight, but seemingly calm, embrace.
With his arms wrapped around me, giving me his warmth, he whispers, "I don't mind....doing this much for you..." He starts to speak up some. "Wherever you are, whatever you need...I want you to know that I'm here for you..even if this is all I can do for you.."
My face flushes a bright red color, but it's not noticeable because of how dark it is outside. I gently wrap my arms around him, and tell him, "thank you...I don't really know what to say, but...I'm glad I can count on you.."
The two of us part from our hug, and give kind smiles to one another. He grabs my hand and carefully pulls me forward, letting me know that he wants to walk again.
He and I walk, hand in hand, back home. As we approach the steps in the front of my house, I become somewhat sad.
I climb up two of the three steps, and turn around so that I'm face to face with Kuroo. "Thank you...for everything today..." I utter quietly.
"I should be the one thanking you for making today a great day~" Kuroo purrs. "I'll call you tomorrow, okay?"
"Mhm~" Kuroo, still holding onto my hand, begins to lean in closer to me.
Woah, hey! What's he doing!? I think to myself. Is this a...k-k-kiss!? Wait!! I'm not ready!! I tightly shut my eyes out of sheer nervousness.
A/N: Sorry about the cliffhanger~♡ x'D
