A few weeks pass, and we are all pretty used to the school. Kuroo and I talk to almost everyone in our class, and we are even somewhat close with some of them. There is this one boy that Kuroo is not completely fond of; they're on the volleyball team together, and they get along somehow, but they constantly butt heads.
"Ughhhh," Kuroo groans during lunchtime.
"...you okay?" I look over to him and ask while giggling.
"It's Yaku again...ughhhhh!" He shoves his face into a text book on the desk.
I laugh a little. "What did he do this time, huh?" I smirk.
He whips his head up quickly, and gives an angry look. "He!! Said!! Girls!! With!! Short!! Hair!! Are!! Cuter!!" He groans again and shoves his head back into the book.
I can't help but to burst into laughter. "Dude, chill. It's just a preference." I smile and pat his head. "But, what? Does that mean you like girls with long hair?" I smirk once again.
"I mean," he starts talking, but gets quieter, "all girls are cute, so I don't really care what length their hair is...but long hair is pretty.." he starts blushing lightly.
"Aww, so you think I'm cute~~~?" I tease. "Tell me: is my hair pretty, then? Do you want my hair to be long or short?" I wink at him in play.
He lifts his head up from the book, checks my hair, then turns away embarrassed. "You look pretty always, but you'd look really nice with long hair, I think.."
I grab his chin, move his face so that he's looking at me, and get close to his face. "Okay, then I'll keep growing it out until it's all~~~ the way~~~~ down to my butt!" I smirk and raise an eyebrow.
"Heh," he gets cocky and grabs my wrist. He gets closer to my face knowing I'd try to back up. "That's a promise, then. And I'll hold you to it." He smirks right back at me.
Oh no oh no oh no oh no, abort abort abort abort, too close too close !!!
He lets go of my wrist while I'm mid-panic, and I go flying backwards in my chair, landing flat on my back.
Was I embarrassed before? I shouldn't have been because this is so much more embarrassing. Hahahahahahahahah yAy. Everyone saw me fall. Haha. Ha. Haha.
Instead of helping me up like a kind gentleman, Kuroo laughs so hard (you know the laugh) that he, too, falls back in his chair, landing on the floor next to me.
"Hah! That's what you get for laughing, you jerk!" I laugh at him and lightly push his shoulder. The two of us lay there for a second laughing before we help each other up and into our seats.
I see a girl sitting a few rows away from us staring, trying not to laugh. She looks like she's in a lot of pain holding it in.
"You can laugh, it was hilarious." I tell her kindly and smile at her. Once she hears this, she goes hysterical laughing. Kuroo and I walk over to her seat and sit next to her. She had previously been sitting alone, so there were extra seats.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to laugh, but it caught me off guard, and you two didn't seem to be hurt..." she says with a shy smile. "I'm Sakaguchi Shina, by the way." She smiles and bows lightly to us.
Shina...from the paper that was next to mine! So, this is her...not only is her name pretty, she is, too.
Kuroo and I introduce ourselves to her and spend the remainder of lunch talking to her. We all decided, after laughing over our misery and embarrassment together, we needed to exchange contact information; I mean, it was only fair, really.
Shina tells us that she's part of the girl's volleyball team. She also tells us that the girls team is not all that she had thought they would be; some girls are serious about it, while others couldn't really care less.
Yeah, I thought so, too. That's why I didn't join the team..

Another night of practice, and another night of Kuroo and Yaku constantly bickering. Even then, however, they still get along pretty well.
"Those two are going to be really good friends someday, I bet.." I say to myself and chuckle.
"Yeah, I think you're right." Kai Nobuyuki says as he walks up beside me. "And if not," he continues, "I'll keep them in check." He smiles kindly at me.
I smile back at him. "Please do. Someone needs to be a bridge for the two of them." I sigh.
"You're here, too, don't forget." He says, caissons me to look up at him. "If nothing else, you're good at keeping Kuroo calm. I trust you'll be able to keep peace between them if I cannot." He smiles again, this time a little brighter.
The coach calls everyone back from their water break, so I go outside and refill everyone's water bottles. The usual thing, but even something like this is fun.
Even if I'm not getting to do any of the fun stuff myself, just being here for all of them is worth it. I get to watch all of them have fun. Plus, when we have free time, Kuroo I practice together at the park. He teaches me all of the new things he learns during practices.
"Hey!" Kuroo calls after me when I walk into the gym. "So, coach just told us there's no practice tomorrow because they need the gym for something." He says, but doesn't seem very disappointed about it. "Do you wanna go to the park tomorrow and practice?" He asks happily.
"Of course!" I exclaim. "I need to get better at receiving...And my setting...as a matter of fact, I kind of suck, huh?" I laugh.
Kuroo grabs my chin and tilts my head up toward him. "If you do well tomorrow, I might just have to reward you~" he gives me that god forsaken smirk of his.
"Oh~? And what might this reward be~?" I ask suggestively.
He looks up for a moment, thinking, then leans in close to whisper into my ear, "anything you want, m'lady~"
I gently grab his jacket collar and pull him closer, now my turn to whisper into his ear. "Don't make any promises you can't keep, kitty~" I giggle and pull away, gathering our bags, getting ready to walk home together.
