A few days pass, and it's time for Kazuma to go back to college. He was only able to stay for a week, but Kuroo and I got to talk to him and learn a lot from him.
"Kay, kiddo. I'll see you again soon. I got some major exams coming up, so I'm going to be super busy." Kazuma ruffles my hair, messing it all up, as he steps outside our home's front door.
"Send me a message next time you're coming to visit!" I say to him as I hold the door open, waiting to close it.
He walks down the stairs and turns his head toward me. "Oh, yeah" he says, "next time I come visit, I wanna talk to Kuroo-kun again, so keep him on a tight leash, kay?" He winks and chuckles when he sees my face turn red.
I pout and close the door most of the way. "Yeah, yeah! I get it! Text me when you get back to the dorms, okay!?" I say smiling.
"Yeah," he says. "I'll see ya around, kid~"
And with that, Kazuma leaves once again. The house gets a little bit quieter, and the weather is starting to get a little bit colder. Kuroo's and my first year at Nekoma High School is going by quickly.

"So, your brother went home?" Shina asks. "It's too bad I didn't get to meet him, he sounds so cool!"
Shina and I usually walk to the gymnasiums together for volleyball practice. She tells me about how the girls team is doing, but she also complains about the girls a lot; it seems some of the girls don't really want to be there, or don't take it very seriously.
"Don't worry," I tell her with a gentle smile, "he'll be back soon enough, and I plan to keep you by my side for a realllyyyy long time!!" I giggle and hug her.
Shina laughs and hugs me back. "Good! I want to stay by your side for a really long time, too!!" She exclaims.
"Well, well~ Am I interrupting something?" A boy's voice says behind us.
"Kuroo!" I say excitedly. "Ahh, my two favorite people~" I say happily, grabbing Kuroo's arm, as well.
I stop walking just before we get to the gymnasiums, pulling on Kuroo's and Shina's arms. They both turn their heads to look at me. "I have an idea!" I nearly yell at them with excitement. "The three of us should spend Christmas and New Years together!!" I smile widely.
They both giggle. "We still have a little while before Christmas, silly." Shina says, pinching my cheek gently.
"I know, but I want the three of us to spend a wholeee lot of time together!!" I tell them.
"Okay," Kuroo says calmly, "let's do it. We'll have lots of fun together this year." He smiles cutely and pats my head. "But really, we need to go before the coach yells at us." His face goes from happy to scared real quick.
"I'll see you after practice, Shina!! Walk home with us, okay!?" I yell behind me and Kuroo and I run into the gym. She gives a reply in agreement and waves to us as she heads in towards her own gym.
"You two have gotten really close, huh?" Kuroo asks me as we get ready to start practice.
"Yeah!" I reply happily. "She's easy to talk to, and she's really fun to be around! She and I actually have a lot in common, too."
"Alright, stretches!" The coach calls out for everyone.
Kuroo glances at the coach briefly, then looks at me again. "Tell me all about it on the way home, okay?" He smiles and runs toward the team.
As usual, I do my daily routine during practice; keeping score, getting water bottles filled up and brought to the team, keeping Kuroo and Yaku from tearing each other's throats out.
When practice lets out, Kuroo and I change back into our school uniform and make our way to the front of the school. We say goodnight to our teammates and upperclassmen, and wait for Shina at the front gate.
"Sorry for making you wait so long!" Shina yells out, running toward us. She stops just in front us to catch her breath. "Practice ended up running longer than usual, and I was so into it tonight." She says with a little smile on her face.
"It's okay!" I say as I grab her arm in a kind of hugging way. "As long as we're all here now, it's fine~"
The three of us walk most of the way home together, talking about our upcoming Christmas and New Years plans. We talk about having parties at each other's houses, giving one another gifts, and inviting some of the teammates.
"Well," Shina says, "this is where we part ways. I'll see you guys later! Be safe on your way home!" She smiles and waves to Kuroo and me before walking down a different street than us.
Kuroo and I continue on our way home. Of course, Kuroo always walks me home, so he gets home last, but he always tells me that he doesn't mind.
"So," Kuroo starts, "what's something you want for Christmas?" He asks with a hint of blush on his cheeks.
"Hmmm," I think to myself for a moment. "I don't think I really want anything...I mean, other than spending it with you." I smile up at him, then correct myself. "Well, you and everyone else, that is..! Christmas is the kind of holiday that you just kind of have to spend with a lot of people, you know!?" I laugh awkwardly and feel my face heat up.
Kuroo puts his arm around my shoulder as the two of us walk side by side. He leans down a bit and speaks softly. "Hmm~? I guess I'll just have to figure something out on my own, huh?" He smirks, of course, and keeps his arm on my shoulder until we reach my house.
As I walk up to my front door, he pulls on my wrist gently, making me turn to face him. "Hey.." he says quietly, "...I'm really looking forward to Christmas...and New Years. I wanna do something on New Years, but only..with you, okay?" He gives a shy smile, avoiding my eyes for a second, but mustering the courage to make eye contact.
I give him a gentle smile in reply, and say, "yeah, I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with." With that, I go inside, and Kuroo walks home happily.
