My Xbox Friend

Chapter 12

When i got outside, i pulled my phone out of my back pocket and dialed the cab number to pick me up and take me to the hospital.

'' Hello? Can i get a cab to um,..." Man i forgot the name of my street and there are no signs. '' um , 3,2,. Um ill just call back later.'' I hung up the phone and put it back in my pocket.  How do i not know what my address or street is?  Maybe ill just walk to the hospital like i walked home and when i get there ill borrow my moms keys to her car.

When i got to the hospital i was short of breath, so i didnt even bother to check-in at the front desk or anything.  i just went down the hallway and looked for my moms room. i found it and knocked.

''mhhm.'' i heard someone moan.

''Can i come in?" your mom cant talk stupid. My consious has a point. So i opened the door and saw Jessica in a wheelchair next to my moms bed.

''Why aren't you in your hospital bed laying down?" I ask.

''Your mom needed some company and you know how those doctors don't give a hoot about their patients, so i decided to unhook myself from the wires and walk to her room.  I mean the doctors wouldn't care right.' She answered.

'' A hoot? and how did unhook yourself from all those wires?"

''In no way you need to know and don't judge my wording.''

''Anyway hows my mom?''

''I really don't know how shes feeling because no doctor has came in here since i came in here, so.''

''Doctors these days huh, i need like one of you guys to get out of here because i haven't been on my xbox in two days, not like that is the really important part. i lie. and haven't been to school in two days either. Also i need to work on my project with Amy..''

'''Sadie I'm suppose to get out tomorrow or something like that, so come yourself.''

''How do you know your getting out tomorrow? Did a doctor tell you?'' i asked.

''No but I'm starting regain all the feelings in my arms and legs, and the doctors and nurses wouldn't notice if i left anyway because every time i say ,''excuse me sir or mam'' they look up at me and then look right back at their phone. So i'll be fine.

'' So i can go home and finally sleep?''

''Who said you couldn't?''

"My conscious..'' i said under my breath.

''Your what ?''

"Nothing." i lie.

i started to walk out. but i got stopped by Jessica's wheel chair.

''Where are you going?'' she asked.

''To sleep , you said i could, i mean i haven't really slept the last two days that everything happened.''

''You can sleep here''

''no.. i have things to do, do you know where my moms car keys are''. i ask with one foot in the door and one foot out.

''Here''. she said and threw me the keys.

''Oh and Jessica, take good care of her.'' i said and then walked out.

Now i know what your thinking, how could a 14 year old in eight grade drive a car? Well I'm not really 14. I'm kinda 16. i got held back, because i would never pay attention in class and all would think about is my xbox and other video games.
