7. Magic is my new home

Cynthia was unbelievably right when she said that magic was her territory. All she did was pull out a rose from the garden and pluck off one of its petal. She released it gently and before it touched the ground, the miniscule petal erupted in golden dust and elongated itself such that it was as big and wide as a carpet. Scratch that – a magic, floating carpet. Dylan couldn’t believe her own eyes as she watched that dazzling, reality-defying scene in front of her.

“Hop on!” Dennis shouted. She saw both Dennis and Cynthia on the magic petal sitting comfortably and ready to go, completely unfazed with what just happened.

Dylan shook her head, “I can’t believe my eyes…”

Cynthia snapped her fingers and said, “Mount Olympus, Greece.” Surprisingly, that petal started moving and whizzing by North Carolina at top speed. Few minutes later they were speeding over the Atlantic Ocean heading towards Greece. Cynthia was facing forward with her eyes closed and Dylan moved closely to Dennis.

“Will this petal hold the weight of all of us?” she asked, slightly terrified yet it felt cool.

“Maybe.” Dennis replied looking down at her seriously. Dylan widened her eyes in shock and pulled Dennis closer to her. “I’m kidding, it’s safe I suppose. Don’t worry, even if it falls, I’ll catch you.”

Dylan smiled at him and wrapped her arms around his waist. “Let me guess, Cynthia is visualizing where she wants to go and the petal obliges?” Dennis grinned down at her. “You learn fast.”

He leaned forward and was about to kiss her when Cynthia turned around. “Oh I’m sorry.” Only she didn’t sound too sorry. “But sorcerer’s rules, you can’t kiss or have a relationship with other sorcerers. So you guys better be careful at the camp later.” Cynthia informed them before turning around.

Dylan frowned and looked up at Dennis, “Is it true?” he nodded sadly and gave her a quick peck. She giggled slightly and leant against his chest.

Twenty minutes later, they were standing in a forest with lots of trees around them. The petal dissolved into the ground and a small flower bud bloomed from the ground after Cynthia waved her hand over it. Dylan looked around, “So where is the camp?”

“There.” Cynthia pointed straight ahead Dylan squinted her eyes only seeing a forest of trees ahead. “I don’t…” Dylan started but stopped as she saw a faint glimmer of golden dust.

“The camp is surrounded by magic boundaries so humans don’t accidentally stumble in. those with sorcerer’s blood or whom have been chosen or pledged by sorcerers can enter. Now, welcome to our humble abode.” Cynthia waved a hand and immediately all three of them were in the middle of a field where many teenagers were shooting different colored lights out of their palms. Electricity? The surroundings smelled like ozone.

Humble was so not what you refer to this camp. It was in fact ginomously huge. There were people of all ages around mostly either teenagers or middle aged women and men.

The camp looked beautiful with green fields and a blueberry farm which was weird seeing that a farm was in the camp where fruits pop out of nowhere whenever you want it. There were cabins for campers to live in; they were shaped in a horseshoe and a total of thirteen cabins. Surprisingly, all had different decorations.

I’ll explain later.

“So do I choose which cabin to go to?” Dylan asked. The third cabin was a blazing mount of fire and she could feel the searing heat from at least five feet away, the cabin was spaced out a little more from the others. She made a vow never to go near that one.

“No, different sorcerers have different powers. Cabin three, as you can see,” Cynthia pointed to the blazing mount of fire, “Is fire.”

Shock flashed in Dylan's eyes. “That is so cool!” She turned to Dennis. “What’s yours?”

Dennis smirked smugly and pointed to the fourth cabin. Dylan turned and looked at that cabin…nothing special. It was built with grey sandstones and had a wooden door on the porch. There were three windows and the cabin looked normal… …only that it was floating!

The cabin wasn’t situated on the ground it was hovering above! Even though it was only a few inches but to make a cabin float, that was freaking amazing!

Dylan jaw dropped in surprise and shock, turning to Dennis, “So, you can float?!”

Dennis chuckled, “Close enough.” He raised his hand and made an action beckoning her over and immediately, it was as if the air shifted and was pulling from him. She felt like the air behind her was pushing her towards him like a vacuum cleaner sucking in dust. There was a sudden rush of air and within seconds she was in his arms, her legs were dangling in the air.

Her eyes widened, and her mouth agape. “Don’t tell me…”

He flashed his cute, lopsided grin. “Yep. Telekinesis.”

Dylan gasped slightly though she knew the answer. She never imagined Dennis had this kind of power. Telekinesis? That was an amazing power.

Her lips stretched into a smile. “You’re so cool.”

Dennis grin widened and looked down at her, “You think so?” Dylan wrapped her arms around him. “Totally.”

Cynthia coughed. “Camp rules.” She reminded them that they could not show any signs of love at camp. Dylan and Dennis sighed simultaneously and Dennis dropped Dylan on the ground.

“Let’s go see enchantress Becky.” Cynthia clapped her hands excitedly and swiveled around. Dylan groaned internally. Great, let’s go see the woman who blessed me on my birthday.
