9. Electricity is more dangerous than you think

“Dylan? Dylan?” someone murmured beside her. There was some sort of pressure on her shoulders and she felt herself being dragged out of dreamland.

As her eyes fluttered open, the images in front of her were fuzzy. Blinking a few times, her eyesight came back as she stared into the ceiling of wherever she was in. Suddenly a face came into her line of vision.

A man- no a boy, who looked slightly older than her stared back. He had gold eyes that looked liquid under the light and chestnut hair, his nose was tall and he had chiseled features. Dylan couldn’t help but stare back at his handsome face.

Few moments later, she snapped out of her daze and lifted her head slightly to look at her surroundings. She was in a cabin. The long windows framing the walls were open and she could see the opposite cabins.

The room was huge. It had a toilet at the far end and a tall cupboard. The dresser had a few objects like a comb and some clean wipes. The room looked pretty empty with only a few belongings here and there. There was a small fountain in the middle of the room and it looked like a chocolate fondue with gold liquid overflowing its sides. Wait…is that gold?!

She faced the boy again. His face was surprisingly close and her nose brushed against his. Shocked, she jerked her head back. The boy was hovering above her on all fours, compromising but definitely too close for comfort. She raised a quizzical eyebrow at his position and he turned a little red.

“S-sorry.” He muttered, looking slightly embarrassed. Dylan smiled, “It’s fine. So…who are you and what am I doing here?”

The boy straightened. “The name’s Derek. And well this is my…our room. Cabin one. You are here to recuperate.” He said in a masculine voice filled with British accent.

Dylan eyes widened in surprise, “What?! You are my roommate? The cabins are co-ed?” Amusement flashed in Derek's eyes and he nodded, a grin spreading on his face.

Dylan backed up against the bedpost and asked, “So what are your powers? And why is cabin one so empty?” she looked around curiously. The rest of the cabins looked pretty packed.

He smirked and opened his hand, placing it in front of Dylan’s face. A star shaped hologram floated out. It was orange, blue, green and grey. Dylan mouth dropped slightly. Becky had told her that most sorcerers’ had only one color. Derek had four.

“Basically, I have the powers of the earth. Fire, water, earth and wind. That’s why I’m in cabin one, cause I have more powers than average.” He said as the hologram sunk back into his palm. “What are yours?”

Dylan’s lips lifted into a small smile and she opened her palm, willing the hologram to emerge. As the colorful star shaped hologram floated out of her palm slowly, her heart lifted.

Derek mouth dropped open. “That’s…impossible. You have all the powers at camp?” he questioned, Dylan detected fear and awe in his voice.

She put on her winning smile. “Yup. Don’t worry, I make a good roommate.” Derek chuckled, giving her a close mouth smile, “Welcome to cabin one.”

Later that morning, Derek and Dennis gave her a tour of the camp grounds.

“Here’s the pool,” Dennis pointed to a large glistening pool where a few campers were having a time of their lives. Girls were sunbathing while guys were diving head first into the water.

“Wow.” Dylan breathed. Derek chuckled, “Here’s a popular spot for campers with the power of love.”

Dylan tuned to where Derek was showing and saw a few girls decked out in hot pink bikinis shooting heart shaped holograms out of their palms. Whenever the hologram touched a guy, he would be in a daze and follow the girl around. Some girls had more than one guy trailing behind her.
