Today I have my ultrasound to find out the gender of my baby. Jazzy is coming with me since this is a big moment for me and she is the only one that is here for me right now. My to do list since my husband left has been slim to no things to do. This is the first thing that's actually exciting.

"Are you ready to go?" Jazzy barged in. I think she is as excited as I am.

"Yes let me just find my wallet."

Jazzy laughed and I look at her. "what?" I ask

"Your holding your wallet!"

"Oh." we both giggled

"This pregnant thing is making you go crazy!"

"Shut up!" I say playfully.

"Alright let's go grandma!" that's supposed to be an insult I guess!

We arrive at my OBGYN or my baby doctor. Waiting in any doctors office is the worst. They always say "oh the doctor will be with you in a minuet." which is the biggest lie unless a minuet in doctor land means 30 minuets. Of course I am entertained by Jazzy's personality.

"So do you think it will hurt?" jazzy asks holding a diagram of a cartoon-looking woman up to my face.

"Well no not at all, a human being with a big head an wide shoulders coming out of my vagina shouldn't hurt one bit. Should be a walk in the park!" I'm a bit sarcastic and Jazzy knows that but she thinks to much about things so when I looked up at her she looked like she had seen a ghost. She was silent after that.

"Chair-Maine?" the doctor called

"Charmaine" Jazzy corrected I'm to humble to correct people.

"My apologies" doctor Grayson said with a voice of guilt.

"No worries" I immediately replied

"So if you would please lay back on the bed and I will set this up."

"Alrighty!" I was excited and it came through because the doctor laughed softly.

"Is this your first baby?"

"Yes, sir it is"

"Well then I will explain the ultra sound to you, so there is a monitor hooked up to this-"

He showed me something that looked like an ice cream scoop I guess. It had buttons on the handle and a transparent rounded top that was flat. That's the best I can explain it.

"Then I'll put this gel on your stomach and it will be cold at first it's just so I can see the baby. Are you ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be!"

"Alright so there's his/her arm, and her little fingers. oh and it looked like he/she is going to be a thumb sucker!"

Tears were building up in my eyes. the technology today is phenomenal!

"Alright Charmaine are you ready to find out the gender?"

"YES!" I think I might of screamed a bit.

"It's a ..."
