Groaning Kayla rolled over. Her dream had been a normal day at school except she had wings and a halo. As she walked down the hall in her uniform, she was glowing. Everyone was looking at her in adoration and awe. A small breeze blew back her hair and then the most popular boy in school, Cason Porter, had strode up to her and grinned. Taking her hand, he pulled her down the hallway. He opened his mouth to tell her something and then the yelling yelling started. Awaking from the dream, Kayla rubbed at her eyes lazily and looked at the clock, which read 6am. "At least they....... no that's just Jacob!" Kayla said to herself. Slipping out of bed, she tugged down the hem of her PJ t-shirt, then the legs of the shorts. She walked cautiously down the stairs and peered into the kitchen. A plate of untouched pancakes lay on the table and there was her brother, red in the face with fury. Her mother was cowering behind James in.......fear? Kayla couldn't tell. When Jacob saw her, he frowned and roughly opened the door then slammed it behind him.

"What happened?" Kayla asked looking at her mother and father. Angrily, her father stormed out the room. Seconds later, the heavy thud of footsteps could be heard up the stairs. Turning to her daughter, Susan ran a hand through her hair. This was a habit both girls were prone to. "Jacob g-got an-angry at m-m-me because I said her couldnt go to a party tonight as your father and I are going out. He..." Susan took a deep breath and gulped. "He slapped me accross the face and was about to do it again but your dad stopped him." Putting her head in her hands, Susan sobbed and sat down. Soothingly, Kayla rubbed her mother's back in circles. "Shhhh mum, shhhh it's ok. What did you mean about you and dad going out?"

At this, her mother stopped crying and raised her head smiling. "He asked me out on a date!" Kayla grinned and hugged her mum. At least they're happy she thought. "Oh and Jacob will be staying home to look after you, by the way." Kayla's mother said into her daughter's hair. Kayla pulled away in shock. "But he hates me!" She exclaimed loudly. Her mother sighed and put a hand on her daughter's shoulder and put her head down. "Please, just this one night, try to get along, Please.....for me." she whispered, looking up at Kayla. "Fine, but only so you can have a nice date." Her mother grinned at her then jumped up. Giving Kayla a quick kiss on each cheek, her hurridly spoke. "There's food in the fridge and freezer, dont use the oven while we're gone though." Blinking a few times, Kayla said "You're going now?" Nodding, her mother replied. "It's an all day date. Bye sweetie."

As Kayla jogged upstairs, she passed her father and gave him a small wave. "Bye Daddy!" he grinned at her and met her mother at the bottom of the stairs. Kayla smiled as the door closed behind them. When she got to her room, Kayla plonked herself on the bed, deciding not to get out of her PJs. She picked up her phone and clicked on the group chat. Hey guys, might not be able to reply today, homework :(  and then put it on her bedside table. Picking up her English book off the floor, Kayla looked at the homework. "Read paragraphs 1 to 3 and answer the five questions below." she read out loud in a mock voice of her teacher Mrs Kimpy. The old bat was deaf as a doornob and about 90 years old. Not that Kayla minded, English was her favorite subject. She did, after all, want to be a poet when she was older.

Around half an hour later she was done. Deciding to leave the last of it, which was maths, she wrote a poem. Well, tried to. Nothing came to mind when she sat down. Growling in frustration, Kayla crumpled up the sheet and threw the paper accross the room. You dont rhyme you with you! what was she thinking?! She eventualy decided on doing the inevitable: Her maths homework. Hand shaking she reached under bed and picked up the book of the dreaded subject. She was TERRIBLE at maths! Never had been good at it and she assumed she never would be good at it. "Alright K, we can do this!" She whispered to herself in determination. After struggling through it, she wiped her brow. "yessss! I'm done!" It had, admittedly, taken her two hours when it should have only taken her one but it was done and that's what mattered to Kayla. Checking the time Kayla texted her freind Carly. Hey CarCar, cant believe its only half eight :P

Kayla got up and went to see if the pancakes were still there. Silently saying thank you to her family, Kayla sat down. She was half way through her third pancake when her brother came in through the kitchen door with three of his friends. One had blonde hair and blue eyes, his name was Berwin Jackson and his twin, who had brown eyes, was called Alfie. The last of the friends was called Percy Greenwood and had black hair and brown eyes. The group was what was concindered the 'popular people' but to Kayla they were just The Jerkoids. Sighing in annoyence, Kayla looked at Jacob. "Whaddya want?" The four boys were whispering to each other and Kayla thought she could see them smirking. She narrowed her eyes. "Well since you asked, me and the boys would like some drinks and snacks." With that, they walked into the living room leaving Kayla wide-eyed and surprised. She muttered under her breath: "Its not me and the boys, its the boys and I." She slowly stood up and finished her pancake. She put the rest of them in the microwave, thinking she's have them later.

Kayla had been doing what her brother wanted all day. It was now 10pm and his stupid friends hadn't left. The first thing they'd asked her to do was for nothing as well! She had brought them four glassess of water and a few bowls of crisps and they had knocked the crisps out of her hands, spilt the drinks all over her then laughed as she'd cleaned it all up! Kayla was outraged, of course, but when she confronted the boys, they had kicked her down and took turns kicking her. She was left crying on the floor of the living room in a curled up ball and the boys had gone to smoke in the garden. All day they had ordered her around and if she refused, beaten her blue. Kayla was worried about her parents and couldnt wait for their return. Her brother's friends had finally gone home about twenty minutes ago and her brother had let her go to her rom. Kayla took a quick shower and was ready for bed by 10. No messages from her friends either so Kayla was quite upset. She eventually went to bed and had a restless sleep.
