YuLong ran to the courtyard and pushed past various eunuchs.
"LongJun!" YuLong cupped his bloodied face. Tears spilled from her eyes. "LongJun!"
LongJun was carried to his own chambers. The imperial doctor and YuLong followed.
"The injury was caused by a sword, the good news is that it missed his heart," The doctor paused, "But his chance of survival is not good."
As the doctor left, YuLong sat by LongJun's body. She took out some cloth and had XiaoYue dip them in water.
She wiped off all the blood and bandaged all the wounds. She fed him medicine, and talked to him. Or rather, his unconscious body.
A week flew by, and YuLong stayed by LongJun's side, caring for him, changing his bandages. The imperial doctor went in every day to check how LongJun was doing.
The imperial doctor sighed, "He is improving, but I'm still unsure if he will wake up."
YuLong shook her head, "He must. He has to! Doctor is there anything I can do?"
The imperial doctor smiled sadly, "Child, the best thing you can do for him is hope."
Once the Imperial doctor left YuLong burst into tears, "Wake up LongJun!"
LongJun's face remained dormant.
YuLong left to get some more water. When she got back, she saw a man in black, holding a sword to LongJun's chest.
YuLong threw a rock at the man's wrist, causing his sword to fall onto the ground.
The man turned around, "What are you doing?"
"Leave the Emperor alone!"
The man took off his mask. "That's how you greet your long-lost brother?"
YuLong gasped, "YiHong?" YuLong shook her head, "That's not possible, YiHong's dead."
"Am I?" YiHong chuckled, "But anyways, why do you protect him? He was forced upon you!"
YuLong walked towards YiHong, "You don't know a thing about LongJun. "She threw a dagger at him. YiHong winced as the dagger buried itself in his leg. "Get out!"
"Sister, you were always the better one in combat. But I have strong allies, we can be allies."
YuLong threw another dagger, this time, it landed in YiHong's sword arm. She scoffed, "You're the one to talk. Do you think we can be allies after you nearly killed LongJun?"
"You know?" YiHong was caught by surprise.
She scoffed, "We grew up sparring with each other. You think I of all people would not know the type of wounds you inflict? As long as you're still alive, it would have to be you!"
"Fine! It was me!" YiHong sighed,
YuLong shook her head, "But you didn't do it alone, did you? Because you couldn't handle a fair fight!"
YiHong smiled, "If you change your mind about me, I will be at the family cemetery."
And with that, YiHong leaped out of the window.
YuLong changed LongJun's bandages, "LongJun, you have to wake up!"
"Didn't you want me to confess?" YuLong said, "Well, how are you going to get what you want if you're dead?"
YuLong turned away, "Fine, then I'll do it." YuLong took a deep breath, "I have feelings for you. Romantic feelings. When we kiss, I never want it to end. And what I want most is for you to wake up so I can tell you, and be with you. Happy now?"
"Very."
YuLong gasped and turned around and saw LongJun. Awake.
"LongJun!" YuLong smiled.
"We're you crying over me?" LongJun asked as he cupped her face with one hand.
YuLong felt tears of happiness trickling down her face, "Who's crying over you?"
LongJun grinned, "You are." He wiped away her tears, "Don't cry, I'm awake right?" He tried to get up,
"Don't!" YuLong stopped him, "You're body is still weak. You should rest."
He looked at her, smiling. "You're beautiful." He looked at her lips.
YuLong leaned in slowly, and whispered, "I missed you."
LongJun cupped her face and kissed her. YuLong slung her arms around his shoulder and pulled him close. LongJun wrapped his other arm around her waist. Nothing else mattered, just them. Together.
"Emperor, you're awake!"
YuLong pulled away, from LongJun. But LongJun pulled her in, with his hand still on her waist.
Concubine Meng and Empress Dowager arrived. Concubine Meng glared at YuLong and then sat on the bed next to LongJun.
YuLong watched as Concubine Meng slung her own arms around LongJun.
"I've missed you so much!"
Empress Dowager cleared her throat. "Concubine Meng, you should leave. You are clearly not welcome here."
"Oh mother-" Concubine Meng pouted,
"You will call me Empress Dowager!" The woman snapped.
"But YuLong doesn't mind does she?" the concubine batted her eyes lashes at YuLong.
YuLong rolled her eyes. LongJun pulled YuLong in closer, breaking away from concubine Meng's embrace.
"The Empress, as you will address her, does mind. And as a matter of fact, so do I." LongJun glared at the pouting concubine.
The annoyed Empress Dowager pointed at the door. "Out."
As soon as Concubine Meng left the Empress clapped her hands together, "You may continue, I need a nap."
LongJun grinned, "Where were we?"
YuLong smirked, "I believe your lips were attacking mine."
LongJun leaned in, "And?" YuLong felt his strong arms embrace her.
"It's my turn." YuLong pressed her lips to his, she felt LongJun smiled against her lips as he kissed her back.
"Your majesty."
LongJun groaned as he turned to find QianYe, bowing.
"What is it?"
YuLong smiled and tried to wriggle out of LongJun's arms, but even if he was not in the best state, LongJun remained resolute.
"Your majesty, the whole palace has gathered outside your chambers to for your awakening."
LongJun groaned louder, "Why?"
