Chapter 4 - Punched

Chapter 4:

***Recap***

"That is the same measurements as Jake." She said holding back the tears. She thinks to herself Why is she crying it's been 3 years? Gibbs pulls her into a comforting hug, knowing all of the pain he put her through. He cheated on her with an old coworker and now he comes back as nothing happened.

***Present***

"Thanks, Boss, I'm S - Sorry..." Bishop said letting all of her tears go. "Rule #6, Bish and it's ok Ellie," Gibbs says comforting her. After a few minutes, Bishop wiped her face and put on a fake smile, pulling the emergency lever and walked out of the elevator to Abby's Lab.

"Gibbs I got an ID..." Abby said turning around to see Bishop's bloodshot eyes and Gibbs stare Let it go. She will tell when ready. "I am ok Abby. Who is the suspect?" Bishop says wiping her face with her woolly sweater. "Well, you might want to sit down then, Bishop." Abby says while, Bishop sits down, but Gibbs just gives her the Caf-pow and said: "Just say it, Abby." "It is Jake Malloy..."

Bishop didn't want to hear those words, but she knew they were coming. She took a deep breath and walked into the elevator and pressed the button. Gibbs gave Abby a kiss on the cheek and jumped into the elevator.

"Bishop don't do something you are going to regret!" Gibbs says pulling the emergency lever. "I know. I will do better than the last time this happened with Kai Chen. I don't think we will find him yet. I noticed that he shows up when you don't expect it." Bishop says flipping the lever and stepping out. Gibbs follows hoping she does the right thing.

***In The Bullpen***

Bishop was feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of the news so she turned towards her boss and spoke while looking at her watch. "Boss, I am going to head home. It is 8:30 pm anyway." Gibbs nods and sits at his desk.

McGee and DiNozzo look at Gibbs and at each other. "Is she ok boss?" McGee asks worriedly for his partners well being. Then Tony adds "...She looked like she wanted to punch something. Like in the movie: Raging Bull..." Earning a head slap from Gibbs. "She just heard some not so great news and She will come around, soon. I hope." Muttering the last part to himself.

McGee goes back to work, but Tony thinks back to his pissed coworker. He always thought of Bishop as a younger sister that he never had.

***In The Parking Garage***

Bishop walks to her truck, but she feels like she is being watched. Touching her gun in her holster and turns around to see Jake. Yep. What did I tell you, he comes when you least expect it.

"What are you doing here, Jake? I know you MURDERED that little girl and made it look like a suicide! Why?" She says fighting back tears. The man she married was gone, replaced with this psychopathy person.

She could smell the alcohol on his breath, as he spoke, giving her chills. "I came to see you, babe. I did that for usssss." He was slurring his words. He reaches over and caressed her cheek. Bishop backed up and was feeling uncomfortable, but Jake didn't like this and took a swing hitting Bishop in the eye knocking her out.

She woke up an hour later, sitting in the parking lot and had a really sore black eye. She recalled her thoughts and remembered that Jake had just sucker punch her. "That bastard," she yelled getting up and jumped in her truck. She thought about calling Gibbs or Ducky for her eye but thought against it because it was almost 10 pm. She started the truck, pulled out of the garage and started driving home.

***At Her Apartment***

Bishop unlocks her apartment, falling onto the couch. Thinking back to Rule #42: Never accept an apology from someone who just sucker punched you. Jake just punched me and I know he will be back, soon. She walked into her room, throws on her oversize OSU shirt and some short shorts.

She heads to the bathroom to check on how bad her black eye was. It hurt like hell. It was bright purple and swollen. She grabbed some frozen peas and puts it on her eye and headed to bed. She puts her gun and phone on the nightstand and looked at the clock. 10:45.

She watched some TV letting the frozen peas help the swollenness go away. It was 11:30 pm when she turned off the TV and put the peas back in the freezer and heading to bed falling asleep almost instantly, ready for this night to be over. 

What will her coworkers think of her black eye? How will she react when Jake comes back? What will Gibbs do knowing that Ellie is like a daughter to him?
