Chapter 2 - Something is Off

Chapter 2:

***At NCIS: 3rd Person POV***

McGee and Tony were sitting at their desks doing their desk work.

"Hey Tony, Bishop is asking us if we want her to get us some coffee?" McGee stated after reading the text from Bishop.

"I am surprised that she isn't here early like she always is and I will always take free coffee," Tony said with that DiNozzo smirk and thinking why the young probie wasn't early like normally. 😏

Looking at the clock is it was 6:45. McGee replied to the message, thinking about what could make his colleague and friend late. He then got back to his work.

***With Bishop***

Bishop continued to take the exit to get to the navy yard. She kept thinking back to what happened at the coffee shop. Was Jake trying to tell her something? Why was he at the crime scene? She decided to shake it off and while looking into the mirror, trying to get that pale look off of her face. She pulled into the navy yard and parked. She walked through security showing her credentials and badge at the gate. She rushed to the elevator with the coffees and her backpack and pressed the button.

***3rd POV***

Ellie jumped out of the elevator still having that pale and scared the heck outlook. She walking to her desk when out of nowhere...

"Grab your gear. We got a dead naval captains daughter." Gibbs said rushing in as he always does and takes one of Bishop's 4 cups of coffee for himself. "Bishop, why are you late, and is this my payment for being late?"

Gibbs stated rushing to the elevator with the three of them in tow, each having grabbed their coffees and thanking Bishop for getting them. Gibbs being Gibbs stopped in his tracks and told everyone to meet him down in the garage, except Bishop.

"Bishop are you ok? You look like you saw a ghost. I am also guessing that was why you were late?" Gibbs asked in his fatherly, grunting mood voice.

Bishop muttered under her breath "It might have been." Gibbs heard but shook it off seeing her reaction. Noticing she said that out loud she said "No and yes, I am ok. Also, is this the girl who jumped out of the building this morning. Who was the daughter of Navy Captain Smite and Dr. Smite?" "Yes, and how did you know about that... Oh, never mind let's go." He said as they rode the elevator down to the garage.

***Crime Scene***

"Boss, why are we here it "was" suicide? Right?" McGee said not knowing what to do. Then getting a Gibbs slapped. "Ow. I deserved that." Then DiNozzo replied while laughing "If we are here then he must think, that it wasn't a suicide." Gibbs walked over to DiNozzo and gently patted his cheeks as he does. "Go job DiNozzo, Bishop and McGee photos. Go." Gibbs barking his usual way.

Bishop kept thinking that something was off, while she was snapping photos, and now that we are investigating a suicide that might be a murder. She also thought that maybe Gibbs knew something was off. What was she thinking, of course, Gibbs knows something is off. He is Gibbs for christ's sake. His name stands for Guy in Back/Bastard! I just hope I am making the right decision for not telling the team of my suspicions.

McGee looked over to his partner noticing that she was dazed asked: "Hey Bishop, Bishop? Earth to Bishop?" Ellie was taken out of the trance by this. "Oh, sorry McGee, yes?" "Are you ok?" He replied to his dazed partner. "Yah, I am ok." She replied. McGee knew something was up but played it off for his partner's sake. By now everyone had finished their tasks. Gibbs called everyone back to the Challengers. (Cars.) "Ok, I think we have everything we need. McGee and DiNozzo ride back together and Bishop will ride with me back. Ducky and Jimmy are working on the body and as we speak, we are getting all of the evidence and taking over of this case. Abby will take all of the evidence into consideration" Gibbs said and everyone climbed into their respected Challengers. (Cars)

Does Gibbs know that something is up? What will happen to this case? Is Jake involved or is Ellie just paranoid? Does McGee know something?
