They Dont Know About Us

Chapter 4

Darren gets home from the party a little after 1 am. He walks into the bedroom to find Mia, still awake. "Mia?" he asks. "Why are you still awake?"

"I don't know." She responds. "How was the reunion?"

"It was ok. There is nothing to worry about, Chris didn't say much to me the entire night."

'How did you know I was worried?"

"You were worried before I left, and you have that look on your face like you're worried about something."

"Well, I was worried. But I'm sorry he basically ignored you all night."

"It's OK. I'm going to bed. I'm very tired. But before I lay down, the cast decided that every Saturday night we are going to have dinner together."

"That sounds fine. Goodnight."

"Night." Before he closes his eyes for the night, he looked at his phone to find a text from Chris.

Movie are my place next week?

Darren looks over at Mia, making sure she was fast asleep before responding

Kevin sits at his dining room table, in the dark, with his phone at around 7pm on Saturday night; 30 minutes before the "weekly cast dinner" night.

"Alright." Kevin says aloud to himself. "It's time to let the whole world know that Crisscolfer is official." Kevin reaches for his phone. The screen is the only light the room receives. He opens Twitter and begins to compose a new tweet. It went a little something like this...

Guess what! You all know my costars from GLEE Chris Colfer and Darren Criss, right? Well, as of last week at the reunion party that I hosted, those two are making your dreams come true! Yes, you guessed it, they are dating! I cannot believe they thought they could keep it a secret for long! So you heard it here first: Crisscolfer js official!!

Kevin grins an evil grin as he posts the tweet. "Oh Darren, Chris. 'They don't know about us.' Well, now they do!" He says, cackling. "Have a nice date you two!"

Darren arrives at Chris's place right on time. Chris opens the door, with an upset face. "Chris?" Darren asked. "Why the long face? It's a date night!" Chris shows Darren his phone, which has Kevin's tweet right on the screen.

"Well shit. We tried to keep it a secret. But how did he find out?"

"I have no idea, Darren. But can we go inside, enjoy this date, and figure out the details later?" Darren smiles and walks up to Chris and pulls him in for a tight hug. "I was hoping you'd say that." he says.  The two walk hand in hand inside, past the kitchen and into the living room. They sit down the couch and begin to watch the movie. Darren rests his head on Chris's shoulder as Chris puts his arm around Darren. "It's going to be OK." Chris says softly to Darren. "As long as we are together, everything will be OK."

"Chris, this is why I love you so damn much."

"I love you too."

The movie ends ten minutes after 9pm. Darren gets up and realizes he has to go home to Mia, who may or may not have seen the tweet.

"Oh, shit!" he says. "Do you think Mia saw the tweet?"

"Don't worry, Darren. If she didn't, great. If she did, do what you have to do, and I'm available if anything bad happens."

"Alright, I'll let you know. Bye Chris!" Darren says as they reach in for one more kiss.

"Goodbye. And good luck with Mia!" Chris says once they pull away.

"Thanks." says a nervous Darren. He drives home, sweating more than the night of the reunion. When he pulled into the driveway, he found a furious Mia, sitting on the porch.

"Darren!" she yells. "Get your ass onto this porch!"

"I take you saw the tweet." he says as soon as he got onto the small, wooden porch.

"Just tell me. Where were you just now? Out with Chris, or the rest of the cast?"

"Well....Um...."

'I knew it. I always knew you were gay. It was stupid of me to say yes to you."

"Mia just let me explain."

"You don't have to. You are gay You always have been. You have always loved Chris. You just used me to get over him. All of your stuff is in the two suitcases at the bottom of the stairs. Get them and get the hell out of house. Oh and here." She slipped the engagement ring and handed it to Darren, who put it in his pocket.

"Mia...."

"Get out!" Darren runs inside, gets the suitcases, and runs to his car, tears streaming down his face. He pulls out of the driveway and heads away from the house. About a mile down the road he pulls over and calls Chris. He immediately picks up, and Darren tells him everything.

"Darren. Get over to my house. We are living together now. Everything will be OK."

"Thank you so freaking much. I'm on my way."

"Good. I've missed you."

Darren laughs. "I've only been gone for an hour!"

"I know. I just wanted to hear you laugh."

"I love you so much."

"I love you more. Now drive safe and get your ass over here."

"OK, I'll see you in a bit." He hangs up, and sighs with relief, suddenly forgetting about calling off the engagement with Mia, and now thinking about starting a new one.
